Has the Registry increased your circle of friends?

I know it has for me. I am not the most outgoing person around, but through the Registry and the forums, I communicate regularly with a lot more people than I used to. I have met some great dealers, Andy of Angle Dees, Mark of Pinnacle, Laura of Legend, Mitch of Wondercoin, Tad of Supercoin, and many others. And I have met face to face many of the forum members here, and guess what. They are all people just like you and me(the me part is only for those of you who did not see my photo a couple weeks ago) I like the Registry. It is not the end all of everything, but people care enough about it to at least argue. mdwoods

I agree whole heartily. This forum has definitely put me in touch with many collectors, and has helped make some lasting friendships.

You too are also right.I've both bought and sold coins to many of the members here. There has been many times that I've been told about a coin I was looking for by mambers.

Do you want to be my friend?

Actually just kidding, it has brought me in touch with folks of similar interests and tastes, as well as providing many other sources to expand my collection (and knowledge).
Now, let me get back to sniping that PCGS MS68 76s Silver Ike ...
I love Ike dollars and all other dollar series !!!
I also love Major Circulation Strike Type Sets, clad Washingtons ('65 to '98) and key date coins !!!!!
If ignorance is bliss, shouldn't we have more happy people ??

Sure. Some day we'll all laugh about this and I'll tell you why I have all the typos.

First POTD 9/19/05!!
Have met quite a few fellow collectors via these boards!
Also have met a few quality dealers here also!
Being from a small town, people look at you funny when you tell them you collect coins. The friends I have made here and through the shows has been an asset for me and my collection!

Great thread! I have developed a circle of friends, no mentors really, on this board. They have gone well out of their way to help me in every way possible. Some of you poke fun at the Merc collectors, and that is ok, because we can take it, but let me tell you, there is not a finer group of people of the face of God's green earth! I have been offered advice, help with grading, help with legal problems, and some absolutely wonderful coins! Though I have never met any of these people face to face, I really look forward to the day that I do. My new friends and mentors have an open invitation to join me in a good steak when in my neighborhood, my treat! Tapp444, Python1, Fairlaneman, Grip, Dimeman, and others have welcomed me like a long lost brother. Dealers like Whitlow, Laibstain, and others have sent me coins on approval simply because I was a member of this board. It has been an absolute pleasure to be associated with the Merc collectors on this board.
Yes, I consider my circle of friends to have been expanded by the discovery of these boards. I look forward to meeting more of you, either on the boards, in person, or both. Collecting Mercury dimes is a hobby, making new friends with similar interest is really what it is all about!
Thanks to my new friends and mentors!
Regards,
Wayne

ROFL. I hope Tad's OK.
The word Friend is reserved for about five people that have been known for over 40 years, so I will say no it has not.
Circle of Acquaintances.
Now this statement gets a very hardy Yes. Three local people have been met personally and quite a few folks have been met directly because of the Registry. None are considered Foes at all but are considered people that just happen to enjoy a mutual interest. Hopefully one day some will be met in person. This has been quite fun for myself and hopefully for everyone else.
Sorry to pick the post apart but the word Friend is very revered by myself.

Like several others have mentiond, I sure would like to meet all of the people I have shared time with on the forumns. I won't be at FUN but will be at Central States in the spring in STL. Also the show in FEB in STL. Hope some of you will be there.
LucyBop needs to make a trip to STL.

Hmm, probably true.
I've found my interest in coins has grown by reading what others have to say on the different forums. Interesting perspectives and insight, makes you think. That's what I like. I like to learn about coins, not just collect them.
I'm kind of a lone wolf with my hobby, so to speak. I have friends that enjoy my coins and the information I share about them. Then there are others that could care less, and that's ok too. To each his/her own.
I have a lady friend that had me look through her deceased fathers coins. Typical collection of coins that some collectors have. No big money coins, average grade, raw examples of coins taken out of circulation. When I started getting excited about the a coin I was looking at, I explained how I wished it was in better condition and the value if it would have been. It was an 1885 Liberty Nickel in AG/G condition. She occasionally remarks about the look on my face when I saw that coin. Like a little kid.
I know the feeling well. mdwoods

I might make that show myself.

The more qualities observed in a coin, the more desirable that coin becomes!
