I love a GOOD trade :-)

Do you know the kind???

There's a lot of give and take and then...at the very end...something comes up that's just not quite even on both sides and things get CREATIVE!

To me - that is the most entertaining and enjoyable part of this hobby - making the loose ends fit image

Sometimes it may take a little cash, but usually it takes what you least expect. My last one it took a coin that myself and my trade partner had had a little wager on for the grading months earlier. He won and now he also OWNS the coin as a result of the trade.

I have had much stranger and included warnicks, graded trading cards, and other items to help "make up the difference" or to "sweeten the pot".

Any other strange ways you have come up with to "make the loose ends fit"???

I agree- there is nothing like having a coin you don't want, and finding out that someone posessing a coin you DO want, doesn't want the coin they have... both sides are happy (and if you got one coin much cheaper than the other, you save some $$$ image)

And it's also fun when you have more than 2 people involved... example:

Someone a while back had a cool 1757 shilling from England (gasp! darkside!) that I just had to have- too awesome! He needed some canadian silver dollars of which I have none- contacted Bob Turcotte, who owns a site I maintain, and he had both image He sent the coins to the forum member (just can't remember who it was), and I was sent the shilling, and Bob was sent a little cash- I got the coin much cheaper than if I put $$$ right out in front, and it won't be going anywhere for a LONG time! image

    Jeremy- nighty night!

Geez, when did that go public? image

    Edit: Oh, yeah. The wager.

I won the bet, of course, but will still end up owning that net graded half dime... due to a trade we made tonight. He is getting one of my nicest pieces and I am getting five of his and some cash.

I made a great Darkside trade with Darkhorse a while back. He had posted a thread on that forum, entitled "why the hell did I buy these?" The two coins he bought were lovely. I traded him one of mine which was a nice coin but not one of my faves, and he swapped me the two he had regretted buying. I certainly had no regrets getting them in trade. One has sold and the other is ANACS right now. I have a feeling that when it comes back, I definitely will not regret the trade. Darkhorse (and/or his dealer) seem to be very conservative in their grading.

There's a coincidence for you. The strangest thing I ever got to even out a
trade was a small gold coin. I thought it might be worth more than the entire
    trade.
