Do the trolls have an agenda?

Do any of you ever wonder if the some of the trolls work for competitors? Just for fun, which service has the best reputation with moderns? Now, as I mentally connect the dots, are there any anonymous modern bashers? Who would be best served if there were constant bickering on PCGS's boards? Maybe one of the reasons I like Kennedys so much is that I'm a latent conspiracy theorist. Does anyone have an agenda? Who knows, maybe not. Maybe it's just me. I see lots of people who seem excited to stir the pot and create a hostile environment in which reasonable discussion is impossible. My "I smell a rat" sixth sense is engaged.

I know you started this thread tongue in cheek, but I actually have a serious observation...

Sometimes, I think a person gets labelled a troll unfairly. A troll, in our vernacular, is supposed to be one who interjects with no real intent for content. I have seen a few folks around here who are quick to brand a newbie a troll simply because the accuser didn't like what the poster wrote.

I don't wish to cite any examples; I think it would counterproductive to pick at wounds that are long on their way to being healed.

I used to answer phones at a retail store where I previously worked. There seemed to be an awful lot of stupid questions asked that were very time consuming. I began to wonder if our main competitor was paying people to phone in these silly queries. Turns out it really was stupid people. Trolls are just people who, like you said, like to stir the pot and be the center of attention. Why would a competitor pay someone to troll when there are plenty of stupid ones to do it for free?

In fact, this evening is the VERY first time I can recall you actually offering MEANINGFUL information regarding coins! That provided in the hail for help regarding the toned Franklin. That is great! I didn't believe you were commenting about Lucy's puke post. I was responding to your post as if it was addressing Don, as I believe it was. I'm sure you have disagreed with some of my posts. As I have disagreed with some of yours. Some people just can't agree to disagree. Anything less than 100% agreement is considerd a personal attack by the very immature Members. Perhaps you can calmly express your point of view to him via PM. Most people are far more receptive when dealt with in a quiet, more controlled manner.

Trying to deal with someone in the raucous environment of the message boards is not a recipe for easy success.
