A unified thread for David Hall to participate in...

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Since David Hall resurfaced on these boards recently, not surprisingly, there have been many questions asked and points made. However, those questions and points are already scattered about within numerous threads, the number of which is certain to continue to increase, and there is no way he can view them all (much less address them) even if he wants to.
So, here is my suggestion, which you are obviously free to ignore - why not have one thread of questions and comments for David to respond to? That would enable him to look at one long thread and, when he has time, address the issues presented. It would make his participation much easier and more efficient AND improve everyone's chances of being heard. This would take some organization, cooperation and unselfishness from everyone but I think it can be done.
If you have already posted elsewhere, why not cut and paste your questions or comments to this thread and get the ball rolling? Who's with me on this?
One other thing (and this might get me in trouble with some of you folks) - I know that in theory, everyone has the right to ask or state what they choose to here. But, I think we will all get a lot more information from David and will be much more likely to be heard by him if we refrain from things such as viciously attacking him, asking him to look at our particular submissions or crossovers, joking around about things that are off point, etc. Let's give him a realistic chance to participate and not make his job impossible. Ok, who's with me?

Very good points! I was thinking along the same lines, the man is simply going to be overwhelmed by all the different directions all the different threads are asking him to go in. (Especially the could you please take a look at my submission # so and so comments). You are often the voice of reason on these boards and I have a lot of respect for you.

I would like to understand their grading procedure. His description was incomprehensible to me (and others). Please lay it out in plain English and tell us why this has changed from what we always understood the method to be (three independent grades and a finalizer). When did it change, and if it changed a while ago then could it be responsible for many of the complaints we are hearing about inconsistent grading?
I'm with you.
Let's show him a little respect. There are ways to approach people about situations that are difficult and still show respect.
There are ways to interact with people that you may have a problem with, or disagree with, and still show respect.
There are ways to make your point heard without resorting to sarcasm, insults or demeaning someone. It's called respect.
And everybody deserves a modicum of it, from David Hall to the kid that mows your lawn or the people that clean your toilets. Respect.
Speaking what you believe to be The Truth is not an excuse for not showing basic respect for people. For anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Here's a quote to dwell on: "If I diminish one human, I am more greatly diminished than that person."
Go ahead air your grievances. But, do it with a little bit of consideration, and I will bet my pitiful coin collection that whatever it is you feel needs to be fixed, has a much better chance of getting there.

Now, all we need are some more questions, comments a dash of patience and an eventual appearance by David. If this thread gets going like I hope it will, I'll send David a PM to alert him to it. Thanks again.
Unity of voice seems to generally lead to good results. Thank you for attempting to create calm in the tempest that has been our board for quite some time. I agree with you that flaming does not get things accomplished in most situations. Everyone has an opinion, a point of view, and a desire to be heard.
Perhaps if we behave in a fashion that draws respect from those to whom we speak (instead of behaving in a way that draws derision and impatience), we will get solid answers to questions and concerns.
I, for one, am very glad to interact with the eclectic gathering of this forum. All the different types of folks here are like spices and scents - all of which give a rich experience. But I also think that we should care about the appearance we make in this pseudo-anonymous place.
To go along with your suggestion, here is my question for Mr. Hall: I am a hobbyist, a collector, and a micro-business owner (a small coin business on top of my full-time career and family), so changes to PCGS's practices do have consequences in many aspects of my life. Please address your vision for the future of grading consistency at PCGS. Thank you.
Clank, I bet next Monday's story will have plenty of material to draw from!
Please address the following complaints:
1. Cease using PCGS as a personal weapon for garnering market share. That service is supposed simply to grade coins, as accurately, consistently and efficiently as possible. No games with grade deflation and crossovers please!
2. Expunge CU of the huge potential conflict of interest: PCGS grades, CU prices, and DHRC sells.
Thank you for your attention on this matter.
Regards,
EVP
