Anybody doing the Pacific NW Coin, Currency & Bullion Show in Tacoma?

This Fri, Sat, and Sun (15th, 16th & 17th)

I'm going down Saturday. Picked up a few nice SLQ's and a sweet 92-P PCGS Barber Quarter last time, even though it's not a very strong show (the ad says 200 tables, yea.......right)

Where in Tacoma is it going to be? I think I'm going to try to go on Saturday. Hey Lucybop says she might be there. That would be worth the price of admission alone!

Thanks for the reminder - it's typically a pretty sad show but, one never knows.....at least 2/3rd of the tables are typically sports, comics and stamps.

Clankeye - It at the Tacoma Dome. It's worth the trip if you don't have to drive too far.

    Hours:
    Fri 4-9 PM
    Sat 10-6
Sun 10-3, 4 or 5 (that's what the ad actually says!)

Ugh! I just looked and realized that it's 300 miles each way.....Lord help me, I've become a weenie in my old age. I'll blow kisses in your direction on Saturday instead. S

I went last year, it is far from 200 tables, more like 75. The PNNA in May in Seattle and Boeing Coin Club show in January are larger and better. Still worth going, I picked up a nice 1807 VF O-102 half last year. Guns & Roses were at the Tacoma Dome last week.

Tacoma can be fun and interesting if you avoid the drive-by shootings, a favorite pastime in Tacoma.

Maybe will go. The last two times in Tacoma have yeilded zippo for the Merc Collection.

PNNA and Boeing are Far Better Shows.

I went to the last one; picked up a couple nice Two Cent pieces. Thinking about going to this one if I can get away from the shop for the day. Depends on work flow.

Sounds fun. I will be up in Seattle, but am heading up to Port Townsend for a little R & R.

I would ask you to scout some sweet Barber halves, but that is an impossible request of a Barber fanatic! Sharing is just too difficult image
Have fun, and good luck Dave,

    Hey Tyler -

I could scout out some nice, original, middle-grade toned Barbers halves for you, but that would lead to a terrible conflict of interest! I couldn't live with myself!

How about I look for some nice, white Morgan dollars for you instead. I'll sort through the three or four thousand present, and pick some nice ones out for you!

  • I think I'll go on Saturday (I was waiting to see if a friend was coming to town). If any of you want to meet up, send me a PM or email: jtryka@hotmail.com
  • Is anyone going to this today? I am heading out in a little while.

A couple customers decided that I'm working today, so I won't be able to make it.

Want and had a good time this AM. Bought a attachment to connect the Nikon 995 to the binocular scope. Saw a couple interesting IHC varieties - the nicest a AU 1897 MPD in neck. Learned how to detect a cleaned coin (virtually every coin not in a holder). Easily 2/3rds of the show is sports stuff.

I went Saturday (10 to about 2). The show was much better than usual. I picked up an nice original VF 07-D Barber half (sorry ARCO), and couple nicely toned PCGS Peace dollars. The best buy was a 1922 Peace, PCGS MS63. It's got a nice arc of deep gold covering about 15% of the obverse. A super flashy coin, too --- $30 bucks. I'd love to buy 500 at that price. These sell for $50-$60 easy on eBay. Am I selling it? Heck no.

Lots of baseball players hanging around too, signing autographs at the card show. Al Kaline!!!, Jim Edmonds, Tony La Russa. Very fun!
