My first submission to PCGS--awaiting results

Hello everyone,
My name is John Dillie and I've been lurking around this website for nearly a year. I don't post much because I don't consider myself an expert collector. Recently, someone from the forum contacted me about purchasing a few of the raw Platinum American Eagles I have for sale on my web site. He purchased 3 1997 $25 coins for around $160/each. Of the 3 purchased, he submitted 2 to PCGS and received PCGS MS69 grades on both. On eBay, these graded coins are selling for around $425.00/each. Needless to say, I learned a valuable lesson. So, I looked at some of the other Platinum eagles I own and have decided to submit them to the PCGS for grading. I submitted 1 1998 $10 Platinum eagle that I feel has a chance to grade MS70. Under a 5X loop there are no scuffs, spots, scratches or toning. The strike is full and beautiful. I also submitted 10 1997 $10 Platinum eagles that have no scratches, spots or toning but may have a very small scuff, and are as nice as the $25 eagles sumbitted by Maskman, that received the MS69 rating. OBTW, Maskman is the guy that bought those coins, and I feel I owe him a great deal of gratitude for the lesson learned. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to all the really good people on this forum and to say hello.
Thanks, John Dillie

No modern bullion coin has the jump in price from raw ($160) to graded MS69 ($425).
MS70s might sell for that price, but not MS69s. If they do, then raw ones probably sell for 90% of that price.
Thanks for the warm and fuzzy welcome.

I don't know what the raw 1997 $10 bring, but the MS69s bring between $250 and $350. So, either the raw ones sell for more than $160 or your 90% rule does not apply to these.

Welcome to the forum. A year is a long time to stick around without saying anything. You don't have to be an "expert" collector to contribute around here. Hope you stay and enjoy yourself.

I purchased 2 NGC 2001 ms69's last year from Ed Hann off of Ebay for about $150.00 each.
They are in my opinion the finest of all moderns being struck by the mint today.
Good luck with your grades.PCGS is tough these days.
Edited To Say,I'm far from an expert.

LORDY! I'll second that. I may be a gnat, buzzing around annoyingly, but I've learned a lot, and I've tried to contribute in a tiny tiny way....somehow I became a "senior member" without even knowing anything!
Anyway, welcome!
