I went to the Baltimore show today and met MDWOODS. He's one heck of a nice person!
.
Gold seemed to be selling well from Very Fine through MS62. Mostly $20 Libs were moving. It might be for the Christmas Holidays or somebody going to make a promotion on it.
.
Nice toned material was in demand! David Lawrence had 28 toned dollars he wanted $9250. for the lot. They were beauties! Most of the tables I stopped at had people asking for toned material, ie dollars, original mint sets, etc.
.
1960-1963 Proof sets were selling. Several tables I was at had boxes and collectors were buying them up.
.
Once again, state quarters seemed to be dead. Early silver Washington Quarters seemed to have interest.
.
Just my observations.

I sent payment for the toned 22 peace via PayPal yesterday. If you come across any nicely toned peaces grabbed them and I'll probably take'em off your hands for you.
Enjoy the show and let us know what you pick up!

Hi Numish. I met Mike, he spotted my mug in the lobby. He is a very nice guy. He got me oriented and took me to my first stop.
My smashed up finger is hardly noticeable now. THe only thing is, my right ring finger now curves down on the end. It actually makes typing easier. I didn't think to show it off. It is only slightly red and tender now.
First impressions of the show were very good. The public was just allowed in today (me) so it was high energy with people going everywhere. My first stop was at Angel Dees table where I finally got to meet Andy Skrabalak and his wife Alyenne. (please forgive me if I spelled your name wrong Mrs. S) They are the nicest people you could hope to meet. Not only that you could tell that they were having fun with the show and each other. Andy helped me procure two upgrades to my 20th Century Type set. Both very nice coins, no not nice, PQ!!! I will post pictures when I get home from the show. Angel Dees comes highly, highly recommended. Andy really knows his stuff. While I was at his table, more than one person stopped by to get Andys opinion on a coin or coins. I also got to meet Stewart Blay, another very nice guy. You could tell, he loves coins. I found out that my 09 IHC came from Stewart. As you might imagine, it is a great Indian Head cent.
I stopped by Pinnacles table and met Mark Feld. He gave me a much needed (and wanted) mini-lesson on grading. I brought some of my coins from my type set and he went over them with me, filling me in on why certain coins were assigned certain grades. Mark is a very knowledgeable man, and very cordial too. He was willing to spend as much time with me I wanted. I tried not to hog to much of his time. Mark comes with a superb recommedation from me also. Thanks Mark.
The weather was so splendid that I left the show earlier than I had planned (I'm going back tomorrow) and wandered around the Inner Harbor area. Perfect fall day, blue skies, no wind, and about 50 or so. I took a tour of the USS Constellation. Sister ship of the USS Constitution. A wonderful old 3 masted sailing ship. Well worth the time to go through. Tomorrow, I will visit a nearby submarine that I am not even sure how old it is. The Inner Harbor area is a great spot for a convention. I had no trouble parking. There was a lot of food available nearby.
The coins were superb. I don't even know what to mention. I stopped by Anacondas table that he is sharing with TBT. Adrian was not there, but a lot of his coins were on display in cases. Wow, talk about some beauties. It appears that TBT and Adrian both share a passion for gorgeous toned coins. TBT was busy with a customer, so I didn't get to introduce myself today, but tomorrow I will.
I spent the afternoon, until near sundown, driving the back roads home to my brothers. The fall colors are peaking I would say. What magnificent colors. If you could put some of the tones of the fall trees on silver coins, what a thing of beauty you would have. I has been a very, very good day, to say the least. I will give my impressions of tomorrows visit in 24 hours. mdwoods
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
Please stop and introduce yourself. Adrian and Bryan Sonnier (GSAGUY) are at my table #061 but I am over at Table 257-257.
TBT
center at 9:15 am and sat down at a table outside the show doors in the
snack area. I set up my sign "PCGS Forum Members". Within seconds,
Kranky came over so we had alot to talk about. He showed me his proof
Walker. This time I saw a lot of old friends, some who are
retired dealers and are lusting to get back into the action.
It was great seeing some of those friends that I was buying coins
from as far back as 1965. I saw all the dealer's display's,
handled many coins and talked to a number of dealers. I also
submitted 20 coins to PCGS while I was there and talked to the NGC
people.
I was looking at "Reeded Edge's" display, great material. In fact,
I'll be in Cumberland, Md. next week and will stop in his coin shop
for the first time. At the show I was there primarily to look at the
standing liberty quarters. That's my current interest. I saw the
best stuff at this show I had seen in quite some time. A few
tables had really gorgeous material as if they decided to bring
out the good stuff this time, NGC MS67 1927-s SLQ, wow! Then
later in the day I took the water taxi from the harbor to Fells
Point and went in and out of the antique shops and came back for a
seafood dinner. Then I sat outside and listened to a live
carribean band and then drove home. The day doesn't get any better than that.
