Do you associate forum members with their icons?

CoinGuy1 almost took this... and I have been waiting for a month to post it...
If you scroll through a message quickly and glance at the icons, not the names, do certain ones say, "This must be _______'s post" even if it really isn't?
I'm sure mine does that... and Russ'... and LordMarcovan's... and even Braddick's blankness... and I associate the snake with Shiro (even though others have it- don't worry, I still read the username in the end and know who made the stupid comment )
What icons identify a person to YOU?

I walked around the FUN show floor last year and met a few members.
Secretly I found myself wishing everyone had a little picture of their icon attached to their nametag. It woulda helped a lot.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...

gold - the barbarous relic!
lordmarcovan - Mainly because of the framed picture
airplanenut - You because of that plane. For the longest time I didn`t know you in High School. I thought you where in the Air Force.
dog97 and coinguy1 as well.
Anyway, that was a good question. I think that a person's choice of icon says something about how they want to be perceived.

What does my icon make me???
Of course there used to be a gold Ecu (Ecu d'Or). I used to have one from the 1550's (Francois I).
One of those would be a cool icon, eh?

<< <i>Hey clw. For awhile, I had the hots for you based on your sig pic! Let me tell you, it was very "deflating" when I finally found out you were just another coin guy! >>
I was afraid this would happen. The Empress is an Open Forum thing. It makes sense, sort of, over there. Or maybe it doesn't even make sense there.
Lordmarcovan – ECU is actually the abbreviation of where I work. Yes, a coin from the 1500's would make a nice icon...

<< <i>My sig picture's the real deal, too. I wear plate armor and a winged helmet, and carry a vorpal saber wherever I go. It gets me some strange looks out in public, but I never have to share an elevator with anyone. I've never been mugged, either. >>
LM,
That would make you really easy to spot at a coin show.

I'm pretty hard to miss as it is.
(Actual coin show getup is on the right hand side of the picture.)
In fact, I would venture a guess that I am about the most visible person there is
on the bourse floor at most shows I attend- unless it's a Raleigh show and one
or both of the Atha brothers happens to be in attendance. Johnny Atha is the original
Holey Coin guy- I ripped off his idea but improved upon it considerably- he sews
his coins on a Western shirt, in big sloppy clumps. Interesting, but crude.
I stole the Holey Gold Hat idea from his brother Jim, who is my local dealer.
Their gold coin hats are more impressive than mine- Saints and Krugerrands and
such on 'em, but they use bezels and not true "Holey" coins on their hats.
Besides, all the coins on my vest and hat are at least 100 years old, the gold
included. The Atha brothers have some nice Holeys but are not as selective.
Ain't that a hoot? A guy who collects damaged, holed coins, but who is very
selective about it!?
Ah, well. I've always marched to the beat of a different drummer, I guess.
Even since I was a little kid.
I've been using the same icon since I first joined over two years ago. As far as I know, I'm the only one in the coin, currency, or open forum using it at the present time. (I don't know about the other forums). I've been tempted to change my icon a few times, but then decided that I just wouldn't feel like myself.
There are demon looking people at coin shows. They're behind the ACG booth.
I do dislike it when people change their icon or there are many people with the same icon. It slows down the reading.

99% of all forum members temporilarily changed their icons to an American flag. It was quite an experience. It wasn't confusing, I guess 'cause near all did it. It is nice to have all back to normal, and with our individual icons, we are more easily known, but the time when we all had the same icon will never be forgotten. It was an amazing show of solidarity, especially given the diverse nature of us'n.
btw,my icon is a recent picture of me...am i or what...

How do you upload an icon? I would love to personalize mine.

Since I changed my name to its4real - I have gotten slammed by almost everyone here. My old name was so lame and inconspicuous that I could hardly get a response to a post
