Should cull coins be destroyed?

I know that they're ok for key date fillers and that if you're on a tight budget, but what about common date coins that are just plain nasty? Shouldt they be melted and put out of their misery? Or kept but scorned, as they're still part of our history.

Destroy what is already destroyed?....Oh you mean`completely`?
Ouch.
Michael seems to be the voice of reason here.
They are `easy movers` so they still may be worth something to some(many).

Besides how bad does the coin have to be before it's called a cull?
that is unless you are using the defintion of cull that the date is unreadable. in that case, i say melt the sucker.

New varieties are being found all the time. Sometimes only one coin of a certain variety is identified, and many times that lone coin is low grade or a cull.
Also, rare known varieties are found from time to time on over looked low grade coins.
Another thing, not all collectors can afford problem free and high grade coins, yet they still get much pleasure from this hobby with the low grade and cull coins they can afford.

Before completely destroying old coins, even ones with no dates on them, I think I would make a little framed display on black velvet or something and donate them to a local school or library. Who knows what little kid might just become inspired, and in what way. Maybe it will boost their interest in coins, history, chemistry, speculation and investing, who knows. That is my take. Oh yeah, and if you do that, donate a coin book with it, so they can learn, or learn to learn. That is what I think.
