Good experiences you have have with board members

Its been awhile since we posted some of the good experiences we have had with other members of the forum. We are always welcoming new members by telling them what a great group this is, so why not be a little more specific. I received this coin a few weeks back from a member and he is shy and a lock to be embarassed if I mention his name, so I won't. image He sent me the 1866, see how nice it matches up with the 64L two doors down.

The 66 is a tough date to find this nice.

My latest, just this past week have included Bennybravo; Paseo, Michael Dixon, Numish, TBT, and about five or six others. Each and every one of them has been stellar- all successful.
In fact, thinking about it now- I've NEVER had a poor experience dealing with ANYONE on these Coin Forums!
Where else could a collector find those odds?

-Great bunch of people here, no doubt.

If you are talking about business transactions I've dealt with Tonelover and Gsaguy. Both parties problem free transactions and a pleasure to do business with.

The other day I got three PCGS PR69DCAM commemorative halves in from three different sellers. Two were returned for haze and dip residue in the fields. The third was one of the cleanest, nicest I've seen from the series, a very PQ 69 - it came from TheNumish (Jay).

Have also had extensive pm's with fellow collectors on this board. There are some very astute people here in this hobby. And they are always willing to give opinions and discuss coins. Some that come to mind: Dog97, Michael, Oldcameoproofsguy,Tonelover, Gsaguy and more. Hope I haven't left anyone out.

There's too many to make a list because I know I'll leave somebody out so I'll just mention the last one. Solid gave me this nice toned dime in a Sample Slab. Thanks again Solid! image

    Totally agree.

    GSAguy (only partly EVIL)

Well, he kind of looks like an evil genie. imageimageimage

OK, so they're both REALLY nice guys.

I had a great experience with tjennings. I went to his house, he packed up all his coins, gave them to me, and thanked me for coming. You can't beat that!

I have had many enjoyable interactions (through PM's and on the board, itself) with several forum members. I have also had a few transactions, none of which were problems.

I know I'll forget some, but I've dealt with Monstavet, Tonelover, dragon, OsirisII and some others without a single problem. I've met PTVETTER, Trime, vam44, coinguy1, griffin6, and kieferscoins in person and they are all first-rate people. I'm looking forward to meeting merz2, flying56eagle, goose3, tootawl, and others at the Baltimore show in a couple of weeks.

The only time I had a bad experience was when I did a deal with someone from the Sportscard forum and it took me three months and threats of mail fraud charges to get my stuff back. Over here in the world of coins, nothing but smooth sailing.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Hmmmm....
I've dealt with Russ (a very fine transaction all 'round. He's a great guy.)
gmarguli - a fine fellow (he won't admit it, and he says he's Mean & Evil™, but he's a great guy, too).
mnmcoins - a great person who follows through with folks
    a2labmom/labmom - simply marvy - can't ask for better
wondercoin - nice coins, nice folks - great all around
And probably a few others that I don't know the mapping from eBay to CU forums... (Sorry if I forgot anyone image) )

Advice? Lots of good folks have stepped up to the plate to answer, cajole, amuse, educate, and help. I wish I could sit here and name them all...
  • Wayne Herndon has been great.

  • I have had numerous transactions with numerous board members. The most recent ones were involving the state quarters I posted I wanted to buy. The board members (hounddog, rover, typetone, stockford) really came through for me. I got some really awesome coins at really awesome prices. I have also dealt with LordMarcovan, spinnaker2000, ajaan, wybrit, hookedoncoins, lanlord, michaeldixon, bruce, gacoinnewbie, darkhorse, 1jester, shortdj (who I also met in person), moursund, thenumish, fairlaneman, johnscoins, mrpaseo, bgman, fc57coins, doubledime, kryptonitecomics, aethelred, skyrider, harpoon, danarchy, prooflike, bluecole (still haven't finished that book yet but working on it), twodollardon, rick15jk, itsnotjustme, airplanenut, rampage, luvdawgs, ursabear, dbstrader2, mongoose, traderbobz, redscorpio, njmark, monstavet, markovii, maccoin, russ, bstat1020, RGL, Pushkin, coinfinder, canadiancoinguy, laserart, TCiccone, DIMEMAN, PTVETTER, quattrocoins, Phoenix, rtgjeg, nivek, santelia, mact, jtdorsey, Geoff, keithdagen, muchogrande, kieferscoins, madeddie, ritchiewan, CarlWohlforth, WhiteTornado, sumnom, dheath...just to name a few. image I am sure I have missed some folks I have dealt with and I apologize for missing your name in my little list. Each and every transaction I have had with fellow board members has been fantastic. The people here are very professional and courteous. I never think twice about dealing with members of the boards, whether it is here on the boards or through eBay. This place is great! image

The ones that I have had good dealings with are
Clankeye (Carl) and Colorfulcoins (Craig). These are the only two that I have had transactions with
and both have been great. I am unaware of any others, knowingly.

    Brian.
  • Yes, I agree, this is a fine place.

I've had many great experiences and no bad transactions. Thanks everybody!

And thanks also for sharing your knowledge. That is much appreciated.

You will add to your list if you stay as the high bidder on My Franklin that is on Ebay. image

  • Brian (wingedliberty) is already high on my list. Beyond just having a transaction with him, I have enjoyed getting to know him through PM's. I sold him a coin and he was generous enough to answer by sending me one free. A class act.
I have had great transactions with Keithdagon, Quarterjack, Braddick, Monstavet...
But really important are some of the great communications I have had with members like Keets, Coinguy1, Gsaguy and many more of you whom I hope to continue to get to know better.

I've only bought from a few here, the latest being strat, at two different shows.
Picked this up last weekend from him. image
A real nice MS-63 Lib Nick.
  • I've dealt with a few in person like Shiroh, great to deal with again anytime. Strat who I will be dealing many more times in the future.as he is a fair no pressure dealer and has great coins to see at shows he attends. There are also great folks here as well that I've never read anything bad about.
Friends are Gods way of apologizing for your relatives.
  • My latest favorite coin has come from coinguy1. It was a super nice 1799 draped bust dollar graded XF40 by pcgs. The coin is wondeful and the customer service from Pinnacle Rarities is OUTSTANDING!!!
I was looking for a nice dollar for my type set and sure am glad I waited for this one to come along. coinguy1 was very helpful to me in my search for this coin, and I will definately be back for more.

Tangibles aside, I've had wonderful experiences (welcomes, advice, debate, support, criticisms, direction, recommendations, and on and on) from a great many members, particularly in and around the time I first joined the forum. I 've conducted few transactions, but those I have particpated in were extremely pleasing with only one exception, and even that transaction wasn't totally displeasing.
I would like to call of a few names and apologize for those "board names" I can't recall. I wish I had a detailed list, such as Mr. P, but I don't so I'll try a rely on my fading memory.

Dog97, Askari, Bohica, Spooley, Kranky, Merz2, TomB, Pmh1Nic, Treedoc, Grip, BRDude, Wondercoin, Smprfi, Maddogale, Intocoins, (The BuffNic "Gal" whose boardname escapes), MadEddie, BigE, LilDeb, and many others. He11, even CoinCob was once a decent contributor.
