Toned gold anyone?

Has anyone seen a gold piece slabbed by PCGS or NGC that has red, purple, and blue? Well, I have one! It's a raggy 1923 NGC 62 Saint but it has some far-out colors. I tried to scan it but it doesn't work very well-I posted a pic of it before (Ebay Item # 1385760692 ).

If anyone has unusually-toned type gold that they want to sell please let me know. I'm putting a type set together, and of course I'm always lookin' for those 'cc's.

Take care,

    Toned gold anyone?

Sure, why not. I like toned gold,.....heck, I like any kind of gold, as long as it's mine.

  • Hey Kiefer,

If you're looking for a nice Chain 1c Jon from RCNH has one in PCGS VG-08. He's asking over $5000, though. Don't see too many nice ones like that. I'm trying to stick to my plan!

    Good luck,

I used to have a lovely high grade toned Cal gold piece. It's now in the strong hands of Toneboy, Wondercoins protege. I think he claimed and purchased it at age 8.

  • Is it the copper in it that tones like that? I thought gold, as a rule, was very non-reactive.

  • I remember you posting that when you bid on it... how does it compare to the photo in person?
  • The coin itself is psychedelic, especially on the reverse. The obverse has the rosy hue as seen on the coin and has minimal bag marks, but the reverse, despite a dark stain
above the eagle, had a wild assortment of yellow, orange, red, and even blue! Too bad it's only a 62, but its handling is probably how it picked
    up the wild color.

I'll try to scan it again sometime, but it doesn't work very well. Oh, the NGC slab has a ding in the middle of the obverse, too.
