  • Lucy:

I buy intercdept products on line from Brentkreuger group - which I believe is www.brentkreuger.com. Very, very fast service, and priced at a bit of a discount.

Me be not said Hepcat, but helpful.

    Lucy,

I believe you're thinking of board member Wayne Herndon

Yes, I have special pricing on 5-packs. Link is in the signature line below and in Russ' post above.

Hmm. Maybe I'll need to get those too, when I have enough proof 2c pieces to fill a five-pack. Only one so far. And believe it or not, I am reduced to only three or four PCGS coins in my collection for the moment.

  • Intercept shield had a special last year for all registry participants. If you sent them a print-out of your set, they would provide holders for all the coins in the set. I don't know if they are still doing it, but wouldn't hurt to ask.

Wayne, does an intercept shield fit all the popular slabs (PCGS, NGC, SEGS specifically that I have)?
  • wayneherndonwayneherndon Posts: 2,356 ✭✭✭
    Neil,

Yes, the IS holders for certified coins fit PCGS, NGC, SEGS and other similarly sized holders just right. The smaller slabs (ACG, ANACS) move around inside the boxes. While these smaller slabs are still protected, the slab does rattle around inside the box a bit.

Well, I just ordered your board special offer so it worked on me. :-) Now these don't have to be stored in a dessicant laden environment, right? I can stick the intercept into the safe deposit box without worrying about its humidity, etc.?

Thanks, Cameron. Anybody know any up-to-date info on this? Not that I'll need it for a little while. Right now my 2c piece unregistered Registry set consists of exactly one coin.

lordmarcovan--we sell the boxes individually as well--you don't have to buy a full 5-pack if you don't need it.

kieferscoins--the offer was actually by one of the wholesale distributors and was for one box per registered set. It was a one-time CW ad several months back, maybe even a year, and I've not seen it again. There are two of these distributors that sell the product to authorized dealers (like WHRC, Brentkreuger, etc.). They do not normally deal with the general public but apparently this one did in this instance. I think they hoped consumers who responded would like the product and then purchase more through the authorized dealer network. The e-mail address for the distributor who made this offer is info@coinshield.com.

nwcs--I'm not for sure on the answer to your question. The two compounds do different things. Here's a link on some FAQs on the product, the last two of which deal with humidity and desicants:

  • I just bought two of the slab boxes from Wayne Herndon and I think they are great. Plus, my girlfriend is an engineer at the USPTO and I had her pull the patent. According to her, it's a very sound product. I'll buy more when my early commemorative collection begins to take shape! image

  • I just ordered some intercept shields from Wayne.

    Thanks Wayne!
  • I wish Intercept Shield would make a box that would hold an entire PCGS or NGC plastic box. I keep my 'not the best' coins in these boxes and don't want to spend the $1/coin for the individual container plus box.
