  • Cool - I bet you get a lot of comments when you take them for walks! image
  • can't take them on walks, they are Fish and Game permit for care and feeding only. They can't leave the place except to go to the vet. They are trained to go on leash though. The wolf was in White Fang 2.

The baboon doesn't look very happy. Must be lonely. Aren't they big social animals?

I think I recognize the baboon from an old ad picture of the ACG grading room image

Hopefully, the baboon will accept my apology, that was in bad taste.

  • baboons are HUGELY social animals, usually in troops of fifty or more. She has been raised since six week old by my friend who died recently. She is thirteen now. Every time I go in with her to feed her she hugs me, and plays peekaboo, and I kiss her nose, there are a lot of little routine things we do that makes her feel loved. She is a poor candidate for integrating into an established troop, because all she knows is little baby games her owner taught her. She would get her bee hind kicked if you put her in with other baboons.

The baboon looks like one of my cousins. We never could get her married off.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • I love the zoo! I laughed at a baboon's red ass, I'm going back!
  • In fact, I went to the zoo this week to see the baboon's red asses. And an elephant farted, I laughed, I'm going back!

That baboon looks like he's ready to kick someone's a$$. I wouldn't mess with him. The wolf is one beautiful animal.

I prefer animals who can't eat me- cats.

    Thanks for the pics!

I have to agree, the baboon looks like it's ready to kick some a$$. But that is cool that it is so friendly, and will play games. Neat. Now the wolf on the other hand, looks great! I live in northern MN, and have seen a few wolves. They always fascinate me.

BTW, how long do baboons typically live?

    onthespot,

I'm an animal lover myself. Thank you for the care you are giving to them. You are also honoring your friend in doing so.
  • Baboons can live up to thirty five years in captivity. They usually don't die of misc health problems before their time, but they are EXTREMELY susceptible to human contagious diseases. A common cold could kill her. If I am sick, I have to wash my hands and not sneeze or cough when I am in with her, and handle her as little as possible, no hugs, no kisses. She bums if her caregiver gets sick. She has a couple of scars on her face. She got chicken pox when she was a baby, but she pulled through.
The wolf is ten years old, and he is starting to slow down some now... He does not pace as much and is starting to finally put on a little weight. He used to look more like an overgrown coyote. He probably will only live a couple of more years.
  • Wow!!!!!!!
This is actually about a real baboon and a real wolf.
When I read that headline, I thought, oh boy, another schmooz of a collector getting ripped by a mean and dirty coin dealer.

  • Oh God! This is a hilarious board!!! it has great features too! I used to go on the vintage marble boards, but they only had three features, Ready, Aim, and Fire!! I just wanted to tell everyone here that I have not had so many laughs nor learned so much from one board in a Loooong time! Thanks everyone.
  • Is that a pure wolf? Looks like a high-percentage hybrid from his face, and some dog-like hip displaysia.

Beautiful animal, what's his temperament like -- is he predictable? Tried to take a steak away from him? image
