Yes or No...Has PCGS ever slipped up and slabbed an AT coin as original toning?

  • Without a doubt, and that goes for NGC, ANACS, etc.....................

I don't know about that, particularly, but I do know they have slabbed coins with the wrong date and mint mark.

Of course they have! And for that reason, I think that all sellers of toned Morgans should limit their pricing to a maximum of $100/coin. I'd be glad to do my part to remove these atrocities from the market. Do it......for the children.

I agree. I've seen the 'before' and 'after' through a Dealer friend of mine. The trick for the grading services is to be real good at detecting it so as to slow it way down.
    In this regard, they've succeeded.

No doubt. And they've screwed up the other way around. I submitted a wonderfully toned buff straight out of a whitman album that they called AT. NGC got it right.

    yes

but no one is perfect that is what makes them soooooooo good!! they do their best and are always willing to do change!!

pcgs/ngc is the standard and overall they do a great job

for me has to pass the pcgs/ngc test and get certified but

then pass the michael test and if it passes both tests then it is a GREAT!! coin!!!!!!!!!!!

now this is not a vacuum i have seen many coins that are not certitied that are also GREAT!! coins

now pcgs about three years ago certified a proof 64 seated quarter a later date in the mid 1880's with a fantastic light powder baby/ocean blue that was a no brainer AT coin for sale on a major dealers website!! where it is today i do not know

    sincerely michael
