Once again, still very new. I have some Morgan Dollars and when looking at ebay, I see different kinds such as O, CC, S. They all look the same. How do I decipher what mine are? Thanks alot guys

  • On the reverse of the coin, under the eagle, there are the mintmarks.

No mintmark means it was minted in Philadelphia, the S means San Fransico, the CC is Carson City, and the O is New Orleans.
  • Learning stuff every day.. thanks alot.
  • From what I gather, Is CC the most valuable?

Each date and mint mark varies in value, depending, among other things, its condition. Yes, a 1889-CC dollar is quite valuable, but so is an 1895. PCGS.COM has a good value list that can answer lots of valuation questions.

There are scarce and expensive key date and mint mark Morgan Dollar combinations from every mint except Denver. That's because those coins were only issued in 1921, and the 1921-D is a common date.

Probably a good intro is to get the Red Book (Guide to US Coins) from a book store. It'll give you a lot of information to get you started and give you an idea of retail value.

Welcome to the forum, Bighurt! You should really consider getting the Redbook. Another great book that I think you should check into is Coin Collecting for Dummies by Ron Guth.
