INCREDIBLE BOARD MEMBER

I think its been a very long time since ive seen someone with the zest and love of coinage equaled to what michael exibits. His love for cameo coinage down to the simpilist list of pops (not exactly accurate) Now I hear he has a junior collector club. Truly incredible..hes going alot farther than we hoped jd would.

Im very happy to read his posts, they go so much farther than just the normal "oh look how cute"

its a pleasure to have him around.

    How true!
I get the feeling while reading his enthusiastic posts that he has just won the lottery or something! Besides being full of enthusiasm, his posts are also informative. I always read his descriptions and look at his pictures.

what's this about a Jr. Collector club???

I agree, I nominate him as "PCGS forum member of the year" as he has performed above and beyond the call of duty on these boards and has presented very informative posts.

Michael knows and loves coins. And I agree with the above posts. And when he says once in a while to someone that he could explain for hours or write a descriptain 100 pages long about a coin he is being honest. I love the classics that he posts also, just can't put it in words like he does.

Oh, there has been times I don't agree with Michael but we agree to disagree and then move on back to coins. And if he is helping kids with collecting coins that's a great thing for the hobby. I tip my hat to you Michael, if I had one LOL yes yes.

I'm very happy that he is sharing his knowledge with the board. I would like to have him give bi-weekly lessons on coins. The coins he's choosen have been fantastic. Keep up the good work.

  • I should chime in here.

Michael has offered copious advice regarding my forays into coins. He suggested that I stay away from future coin purchases because of
my compulsivity and poor choices, like the near-fatal error regarding the "CC" purchase. Note: Big Brother reads PCGS message boards!

He's a great guy and has saved me thousands of dollars. He never did respond to the Morgan that I traded for. He probably just got
tired of me ignoring him. But he has my utmost respect and I'm glad you all enjoy his posts as well.

Michael, if you read this, I hope you're OK. Drop a PM anytime.

Michael has come a long way. He has been very shy in the past, and has been an incredible source within his PMs to many of us for a long time. He is now being so nice to share his knowledge with us all, and has yet to provide anything less than stupendous info. Thanks.
PS. My father-in-law just got type two, and my son has had type one since he was four. Stay strong.

Michael is one of a kind! His posts are Q David Bowers as written in Faulkner stream of consciousness, with a sprinkling of EE Cummings' punctuation. Not contrived, it's exactly how he speaks. His enthusiasm is absolutely contagious.

I have benefited from Michael's PMs also. What can you say - he loves his coins! image

I appreciate the photos he's posted of the coins from the eastern collection and the stories behind them. Keep up the good work, Michael!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Michael,

Thanks for all the great information and your PMs. You are a true wealth of information.

Now, now I take all the credit for michael's sudden rise to the top of the pcgs message boards!!!! image

When michael and I did all our late night pm's back and forth I used to yell at him to break up all his paragraphs!!! He finally learned how to use a line break between paragraphs. No one bothered to read all his wonderful postings before because they were so hard to read!!!!!image I saw real gems in his pm's and got to work right away on him!! The rest is history!

Now for the real scoop on michael, he is a collectors's collector just like tradedollarnut, joshua and conder101 and countless others right here. While there are countless others that are deserving of mentioning I wanted to point out those three for their unique contribution to the hobby in their repsective ways.

This hobby is richer for all of the contributions by michael and these others.

But when I look at the number of pm's I have had, it is clear that michael is my favorite. I have had 477 pm's with him followed by MartyF 113 and tradeedollarnut 85. This tells it all. Someday I am going to meet this fellow!

    Michael,
You see there is a lot of appreciation among your board mates for your knowledge and enthusiasm of and for this crazy infatuation of stamped metal.
Despite the arguements and trivial debates there is a core love for numismatics here that you have helped foster.
I am really pleased to read of your efforts to bring young collectors into the fold.
Keep up the great contributions and wishing you a good outcome on the diabetic eye problem.

  • Michael is the best!! I've received 3 different PMs for one question I've asked him. He could of given me a simple two sentence reply; instead he really thought it out and gave a detailed and informative analysis of my "newbie question". Thanks so much!! image

If there's one person on these forums I'd like to meet in person, it's Michael. If he would just give me his address, I'll be on the next AMTRAK train to Rochester. imageimage

Several months ago, Michael offered me private advice about an auction purchase I was openly considering here in this forum. He was 100% correct. I am glad that I heeded is warning to stay away from two coins. I am only sorry that I did not buy the coin he recommended, but it was a $15,000 coin that I was not ready to purchase. In the long run, we both knew that I should have bought it.

It was like having an angel popping up on your shoulder telling you the truth.

Thanks, Michael. I hope that your detatchment cleared up quickly.
