Carol--What Happened To MY New Icon?

Yesterday I uploaded a new icon. 1850 Baldwin $10, like the one shown in the group of coins of this stock icon. Well, somehow it disappeared this morning. Can't find it anywhere on the list. What's the story?

    CalGold,

Did you check all the icons, or just yours by the name you used when you uploaded it? I believe that Fusetalk changes the file names sometimes. In other words, you may have to use the view all icons feature in order to find it.

    Russ,

I did look at them all but could not find it. I guess maybe I'll try again later, in case it failed to show all of the uploaded images.

  • That's weird CalGold, because either I am losing my mind (possible) or I swear I saw that weird face icon that Agentjim is using now, as your icon earlier today. I even stopped and looked for a moment and said to myself (I sez) "that's odd... why did he chose that for an icon." And since I'm talking about Agentjim's icon, I will confess my total ignorance in front of the world and ask, who the heck is that face? It creeps me out.

CG, updating your profile for anything will cause you to lose your newly uploaded icon. Here is a quote from Carol: "Once an icon is loaded (and replicated to all the image servers) it is available to everyone." It should show up and be available for selection once it is replicated to all the image servers.

Fascinating. I just checked all the icons, and mine is not in there either. What that tells me is that if I were to change it again, the one I uploaded would no longer be an option.

That's what I've been thinking, which is why I'm saving a place for the Empress.

    Clankeye,
I also saw that icon on someone other than Agentjim's post today, and I have also wondered who/what that is supposed to be. It ain't pretty!

    Russ,

It looks like your icon is ACF 486. But my Baldwin $10 is not there.

Maybe the Lords of the Board will permit uploads again so that I can try to restore it.

Nope. That one has been there a while. Note it is smaller, not completely transparent, and a different color. If you check the properties on mine, it still shows as "russicon.gif".

It will be. The fact that mine still shows up, but is not listed, confirms what Ara said above. The images need to propagate to the servers before they appear as available in the list. Be patient.image

  • What was the file name?

    Carol,

Thank you for replying. The file name should be 1850_Baldwin_Eagle_NGC62_Rev-Reduced

Your help in finding it or restoring it will be appreciated.

  • Mine did not show up either, it had a file name of icon_2coin

Same experience - worked one day, gone the next.....reloaded file.....file now renamed !cid_x by ????.....wreath not on icon page.....originally named wreath.jpeg

A person could go blind looking at all those icons!

I had the same experience as you today. My profile settings defaulted the same incorrect icon as yours.

  • CalGold try now.

I'll go through these today so every one be patient and let me know tomorrow if it isn't there.

  • OK..everyone look now
  • DONT upload it CalGold!!!!!!!!!! I thought I was safe uploading my personal icon, the palm tree shaking its groove thing, and after I did that, every single copy-cat loser on the board was using it. Some things are not sacred, and some people are toooooo lazy to go out and find their own icons! :/

That's not your icon. It's simply the first one on the list. If you click the update button while that is there, it is what you end up with.
