  • << <i>I need help with a Washington variety. Does anyone know of a 1937 D/D variety? It is very similar looking to the 1934 D/D and I can't find any reference to one. Since there is no doubling elsewhere on the coin, I'm assuming it's a repunched mint mark. I have one that's a nice MS65 that I may have attributed. It is VERY pronounced. Thanks! Andy image >>

Andy, there are at least 3 attributed D/D's in the 37. If you can give me a pic on it, I could tell you a little more about it. Otherwise, there are a couple more things you can look for, like where is the doubling at? ie south of the D south east ect... Any die cracks that you can see?

Looks like this thread is dead, but I am glad it got as much attention as it did. I still think the series has room for more interest. You see new quarter collectors gobbling up the unwanrted common dates on eBay, so those collectors as they get into the series will buy more and more as time goes on.

The lowering valued common dates do serve a purpose. Even people are flocking to the clad series where the higher pop MS67's can be cheap. I just bought an MS67 for $25!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY! THE CHOICE IS YOURS!!!!
  • Sealyp,

The doubling can be seen south and southeast of the D and it is quite pronounced. No doubling can be seen anywhere else on the D. There is a long die crack that starts on the inner edge of the eagle's upper right wing through the lower leaves, through the very top of the D, through the left lower leaves, up into the inside edge of the eagle's upper left wing. I hope this makes sense! Sorry I can't yet provide pictures. Sheesh I love this intrigue! image

Also, where did/do you get information on the attribution figures you provided?
