Cleaning coins

Recently I visited a safe deposit box that I haven't seen or opened in 25 years.I was pleasantly suprised to find a box containg a couple hundred old coins that I put away long before I started collecting.
Among them were 1943 zinc pennies, a handful of wheaties, a few Morgans, "Mercury "dimes, early Roosevelts and Buffalo nickles and some standing liberties. This will be a great garding lesson for me.
Many were junk but many are salvagable altho dirty and oily.
I'm thinking of giving the silver an acetate bath but I'm not exactly sure how to do it. Also, how do i clean the copper? Twowood
