Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.

  • I bet that's a golden beauty with lots of original mint luster under the toning. Teletrade pics have been running kinda dark lately - I'd bet it's a keeper!

  • to answer the question in the thread title...

    nasty

    just my opinion.

  • I like original toning but this one just doesn't appeal to me, especially at the ms65 level.

I don't mind the toning - the coin looks original, but the killer for these coins is whether or not there is rub on the knee. If there is forget it.

Don't laugh. I've rub on the knee on MS-65 or full head graded coins. To me that makes no sense and it makes the coins into "roach motel" purhcases. (You will never check out with all of your money if you pay the catalog price for the coin).

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
  • I prefer rainbow type toning to any other toning. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of toning, but I love to look at the rainbow toned pieces.

If you like red white & blue monsters or blast white dippees it's probably ugly.
As an original toned and relative mark free but weakly struck Classic 25¢ I think it's very nice.

I like Dog's "originally toned and weakly struck" description. Now, how much is that sort of coin worth to you? To me? I wouldn't be very aggressive with that piece.....at all. It's not ugly, but far from pretty.

I like it very much, it has a lot of potential. I don't collect this series, but it is a strong candidate for NCS. I bet they could clean this one up real nice.

Beauty I guess is in the eye of the beholder, but I wouldn't mind having her in my collection.image

I wouldn't mind owning that one either image Although, I prefer the prettier toning also.

I don't like "nasty" - - how about "unattractive"? image

In hand, I do not think you will like it. That is my gut feeling and it is big.

If I have to ask, I am usually trying to convince myself.
