Okay, I'm playing with the cc morgans

This is a 1881cc pcgs ms65. I showed this before, but now I'm scanning it rather than the one I had stored from the seller. Thanks for putting up with these. This has nice orange-red periph tone and great frosty luster. I feel a little too many light marks for 65 but the eye appeal is what I feel brought this one up.

Mr Lee, you have given me some nice comments and I appreciate them. I need to go to the safe box and get some more coins to scan. Then you can come over and play.image

  • stman,

That is very nice, when you get tired of playing I'll be happy to join Mr. Lee. Nice scan, I can't get mine that nice on a scanner.

  • The Morgan bug has me firmly in it's grasp. In the last week, I picked up what is, in my opinion, the most fabulous condition Morgan I have ever seen - an 1880-CC. I can't help but think this could grade very high. I also picked up a very nice 83-CC GSA and today an 85-CC at least MS-63.

My Morgan collection has taken a huge leap in the past month, and I am down to less than ten coins to complete the set. I have been upgrading as best I can, and I am down to a bunch of toughies now. The progress is going to slow down, although I do have an 84-CC in my sights.

When I started working on this, I had No, ZERO, ZILCH, NADA cc dollars, but I have been pretty lucky.

Sarasotafrank, I fully understand what you mean. A while back I decided to put a set of cc gsa's together. In about a month and a half I got all but the 79cc gsa. And planned on getting it even though it's expensive. But than started collecting barbers. I can't explain how crazy this coin thing gets.image

I know how you are about marks on the face so the sharp strike & luster must make up for it. It is scuffy for a 65, though. The slight periph tone adds a little accent to it. Cool.
See you're figuring out the scan thing.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

Dog97, Yes you are right. I don't like my ladies marked up in the face.
But yes the strike is all there even the strands of hair over the ear that you like to see. And like I mentioned also the great frosty luster.
I took the balance of this coin and thats why I bought it. In person you couldn't really see this in a 64 holder. Would have been nice to pay 64 money though.

I slabbed my nicest GSA CC Morgans I bought 20 some years ago. Two are 65s & 1 is a 6. Grading services cut CC Morganss a little slack re contact marks as they traveled by stagecoach to San Francisco. So, it is typical to see more bag marks - especially on the obverse - for CC Morgans than from other mints.

You coin has a lot more bag marks than my 5s, so the luster / eye appeal of this coin must be fantastic (which I am sure is why you bought it in the first place).

  • Can't see too many of these. Nice job scanning this beaut.

Just added an EF 1889CC to my set. Working on these all the time.
