Many thanks to Shylock

It is quite challenging building a type set from here in Japan, so I have really appreciated the support and advice of board members over the past couple of years.
Shylock recently went out of his way to further my efforts, so I wanted to express my appreciation on this board.
I am about half way through assembling a type set of US coins, but have found it very difficult to find an attractive bronze Indian head cent. It is very difficult to judge color/character/quality of these coins from a scan.
In any case, I have read with amazement Shylock's various posts, especially those remarkable ones tracing the history of coins through various submissions and upgrades! Shortly before the Long Beach show, I asked Paul if he would keep his eye out for a red gem IH. Towards the end of the show I got a message saying he had just purchased a premium quality MS65 RD in an interesting date (1881), and if I preferred that to a more common date 66, he'd be happy to sell it to me at cost!
Any MS65 that Paul describes as PQ is bound to look nice in my collection, so I jumped at the opportunity, and Paul shipped it off without delay -- it arrived here in Tokyo Monday morning, and I am thrilled to have this addition to my type set.
Please admire Shylock's own photo of the coin, which is a good representation, but tends to understate the luster and misses some attractive pink overtones.
Paul -- thanks again, I definitely owe you one!

A very nice gesture, and kudos to you, shylock!
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

I'm still having flashbacks of the beautifully toned, glistening Buffalo nickle Jom showed me at the show...
I think you ought to start collecting Mercury dimes. This isn't because I want the competition (Lord knows these dimes are already pricey enough!) but because this way I could count on you to track every worthwhile Mercury! Plus, there would soon be mouth-watering pictures of Mercury dimes in your posts. Indeed, I think that everyone ought to want you to start collecting their favorite series for exactly these reasons!!

My 1866 Philly Mint Set
One really great thing about this board is that people do things for other board members. Some give coins as "thank yous," while others look at lots for people who want to bid in auctions but cannot see such coins in person.
For example, Higashiyama and Strat looked at some high end Capped Bust Quarters for me, when I was unable to do so, and critiqued these coins. I have Truth to thank for my winning my latest addition, a PQ MS 66 Liberty Nickel. I was in Brasil and could not look at the coin; he took a look & sent me an E-Mail. I have done the same for several board members who live back East.
