This is one of Adrian's coins... Despite the rainbow toning, I don't think the tonings (as a whole) looks very nice because of the left top corner... What do you think?
A lot would depend on the radiance of the coin. These 1881-S coins tend to have beautiful luster beneath their toning. I would venture to say that if it is one of Adrian's coins then it's a good one!
In my opinion, both. It has some lovely color, but unfortunately that color doesn't sit on the coin in an attractive way. I am total agreement with you about the top left. The pattern on the cheek, while probably a textile mark, looks like a fingerprint. It's not a hideous coin, and has its charms. It also has its detractions, to my eyes. Overall, my impression is neutral to very slightly negative.
Not for me. I prefer my toning to be subtle or really attractive colors. This seems to be more muted with a fingerprint or textile mark on the cheek and behind the hair/under the hat.
I think the colors are, for the most part, quite lovely. Unfortunately, the coin is marred by what appears to be water damage around the rim at 9 to 5 o'clock. This explains why the piece is only graded MS63, by ICG no less.

The toning is colorful but does not flow very well. It is too splotchy. To me this coin has above average eye appeal but not outstanding.
