Just back from PCGS - my Columbian I was so proud of

I showed it off here and really thought it was a beauty. Just got it back from PCGS. A lot of you slammed it and thought, based on the pics of course, that it was just a Fine or Very Fine coin. Here are a couple of pics - guess the grade and I will post the grade later.

These are important skills to have when buying coins raw, and especially when you are thinking about slabbing a raw coin. You don't want to throw money away.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
and it sets us apart from practitioners and consultants. Gregor
Kranky - I can tell NOW where those spots are(but couldn't even see them then) - you can see a little wear in the center of the sails - but I think dipping this coin may have helped it grade better. The toning is just not that attractive (to me anyway). I believe I should have consulted with someone here who is very knowledgeable in dipping to see what it could have done for this coin. Eye appeal, after all, makes a big difference when it comes to grading.
Overall, the coin has most of the details intact and I think it should have graded AU50+ and ANACS probably would have put it there - but I'm not going to find out. I am a LOT more familiar with grading and what to look for than I was just 45 days ago and am treating this as an inexpensive lesson. (if you call $45 inexpensive).
Thanks for all of the input - and believe me - you will only OCCASIONALLY see me overgrading coins in the future - of course they'll be MINE
