I'll be there - maybe for the whole thing! (Well, probably not Sunday, Sunday is a bummer at big shows)image

I'' be there on saturday, driving from Philadelphia at 8AM and I plan to be there around 10 AM or so. I'm posting some some coins on ebay today hoping to build up some cash for the show. Are we going to Hooters again????

Hey Merz2 - just so you remember - (FYI) - there are some ONE WAY streets around the convention center imageimage
  • merz2merz2 Posts: 2,474
You guys just won't let the one way street thing go.image Enough!!!
I don't know about Hooters yet.Let's meet in the front of the show at 11AM.Then decide what to do.

  • I will be attending my very first Baltimore Show. It would be a pleasure to meet the East Coast board members who attend the Baltimore Show. I will be working the show, so I won't have time to be at your meeting place, but please stop by the Spectrum table and ask for Dale Larsen. If any of you are planning an evening dinner get together after show hours, let me know. Please PM me with your final get together plans, as the time get closer.

  • The Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention is open to the public
    on Friday and Saturday (November 8 & 9) from 10 A.M. to 7 P.M.
and on Sunday (November 10) from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. There is
always FREE ADMISSION for public and guests to attend.

Thursday (November 7) is Dealer Setup and "Super Bourse" from
    9 A.M. to 7 P.M. Non-tabled dealers gain entry with a $75.00
Registration Fee ($25.00 of which goes directly to Children's
Hospital) Two company checks are required, one to Children's
Hospital for $25.00 (minimum) and the second to Baltimore
Coin and Currency Convention LLC for $50.00. A business card
and Sales Tax Number are required for entry. Dealers Only.

If there is enough interest, I would be happy to set up a meeting
room for the members of this forum, so everyone can get together
and meet each other. There is no charge for this. The earliest time
on Saturday that is available is 4 P.M. The meeting room is also
available on Friday (one meeting already scheduled for 4-5 P.M.)
Please let me know if there is enough interest.

The Baltimore Coin and Currency Convention is one of the largest
and strongest numismatic business conventions in the world, and
the November 8-10, 2002 Convention will be our largest to date.
Over 1000 dealers are expected to attend the Convention during
the weekend. Many new dealers will be joining us for the first time.
There are less than 10 dealer tables remaining at this time, and we
will be starting a waiting list for table space very shortly. Dealers
intersted in table space should call Ed Kuszmar at 561-392-8551
as soon as possible. This space will not last much longer.

The Bowers and Merena auction is going to be huge and include
scarce and rare United States Coins, some extremely rare United
States Currency, Foreign Coins, and Exonumia. There will also be
an Exonumia and Political Memorabilia Auction by Presidential Coin
and Antiques including the Don Hansen collection of Inaugural
Medals and Memorabilia and the Arlie Slabaugh collection of Relic
Medals. For more information on the auctions call Bowers & Merena
at 800-458-4646 or Joe Levine at Presidential at 703-354-5455.

In attenance will be representatives of Grading and Authentication
Services including: ANACS, PCGS, NGC, ICG, PCI, and Numistrust.
There will be several hobby supply dealers available including
Tidewater Coin Supply, Safe Publications, Air-Tite Holders, etc.
Representatives of the new Eureka Trading Systems will present
information to dealers concerning their new internet dealer system.

World famous movie star, Conrad Brooks (The King of the B Movies)
will be present to sign autographs, and to offer videos of some of
the worst movies ever produced (which he acted in).

For more information please see our web page at:

  • This is going to be one heck of a show.

Every major dealer will be there and will be ready for biz. My strong suggestion-because of the HUGE B+M sale, many dealers are coming extra early to view lots. I seriously doubt that come Sat afternoon many will still be there (auction lot viewing STARTS Monday this time I believe). If you can, play hooky from work on Friday (or even better, pay the $75 and go thursday) and you'll get the best deals!

Gordon and Ed really do put on the BEST show!

Does anyone know how to determine for sure when the auction lot viewing starts? Laura thinks it's Monday, but the web page for the show says it starts Wednesday at 1PM. I can't find the information on the B&M site (B&M is handling the auction).

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • The Bowers and Merena Auction is going to be huge and the hours
for each session and lot viewing are being finalized. I will run that
information in the near future. Not sure at this point if lot viewing
will start on Tuesday or Monday (at the Marriott) and then auction
lots can be viewed at the Baltimore Convention Center starting at
    1 P.M. on Wednesday.

Lot viewing for the Presidential Exonumia and Political Memorabilia
Auction will start at Noon on Friday at the Convention. Table 10.
The physical auction will be held at 6 P.M. on Saturday evening,
in Room 301 of the Baltimore Convention Center.

Feel free to ask about any information concerning the Convention.
I will be away running the Lakeland, Florida "Collectorama Show"
this coming weekend, but as soon as I return I will reply to any
questions you may have. Ed Kuszmar

The fall Baltimore show in my opinion, has now surpassed the Long Beach shows as the #3 show in the country after the FUN and the ANA shows. Of course, the ANA shows are unevern in quality from year to year depending on the location selected.

Long Beach used to be a much better show and and one time was (in my opinion) #1, but the last few years of price increases and generally poor management of LB has seemed to relegate Long Beach as still the top wholesaling show in the country but not much else. The retail traffic is way off from that of years ago despite Califiornia's relenting to the coin hobby on the sales tax issue.

    Just my opinion.

Count me in. It looks like we'll meet at the same place and time as the Spring show: 1100 at the entrance.

  • I know for a fact, B+M WILL have auction lot viewing on Tuesday (I will take full blame if this is wrong)! I believe they did tell Monday as well (but wait for them to mention it).

I had never heard of Conrad Brooks before reading this thread. Hope you all have fun at the show! Let somebody else do the driving. image
    Matt
  • Conrad Brooks has acted in over 100 movies such as Plan 9 from Outer Space and many of the "B" horror movies that I grew up
with as a kid (showing my age). Really bad movies but they have
a cult following fifty years later. I bought some videos from Conrad
and really had some grins when I watched them. He is a very
colorful character and if you are coming to Baltimore be sure to stop
by his table and meet him. He also acted in the Ed Wood movie that
came out a couple of years ago. Ed Kuszmar
  • Right now I'm planning on being there Saturday the 9th about 10AM. Might be staying the night, not sure yet.

I live 20 miles south of the Baltimore Convention center and I plan to take the day off to attend. At the spring show this year I found a couple of really nice Mercs. My wallet will probably take a pounding..but it will be great fun. Send this TTT a couple of days before the show to see when everyone will be there.

I'm bringing this to the top again. We have three weeks to decide when and where to meet.I think this time we ought to meet at a table of one of the members that are working the show at a certain time, say 10:30.Lets make this truely a memorable meeting!
I'll be wearing my usual black leather vest. There were pics posted last year,of the group. They might still be on here way back.

Flying is just so difficult with coins that we decided to drive. Apparently many attendee's from the Southeast are driving. Wonder whose driving the furthest distance?
