I'm no Morganite, but it looks like a nice, attractive coin to me. I'm sure the PL contrast shows better in person than it does in the picture. RARCOA has always gotten good marks in my book. I've bought a good bit of my gold from them in the last year or two.
Yeah, the coin has the looks (picture-wise) of being at a slight angle. It's my first PL morgan, too. I'm thinking of snapping up a few more really nice ones. Cheap, if possible.
When I was doing the old 1900-preesent Modern Type set on the Registry, I had a 1904-O in PCGS MS65 PL as a type coin. (The 20th century coins are frightfully expensive in DMPL!) I think maybe it was DaBigKahuna who ended up with that '04-O after I sold off most of my nongold stuff.
It's OK, but a lot of S-Mint Morgans from 1879 to 1882 are P-L. The 1881-S is easiest P-L followed by the 1879-S.
The best P-L I've had in a while was an 1885-P in NGC MS-64, DPL. That one was like a "poor man's" proof Morgan Dollar and it was really attractive. I paid more than "bid" for it and sold it to a collector-dealer for more than "ask" and it was worth every penny.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I want to get the DMPLs but have to wait till I get a new job with lots more $$$ Of course, the true gem will be a cameo DMPL. But I fancy that is a very, very expensive coin!
I just happened on it. I know the early san fran morgans are exceptional which means you can get nice ones at bargain prices. I'm hoping to get even better common date ones. I used to try to build a date set, but found that I enjoy getting what I enjoy.
I have a 1903 (or 4, can't remember) MS64 with lots of green toning. Ought to post a picture of it next week.

I want it.
Give it up!
I have been working hard on my Morgan collection the last few weeks, adding probably a dozen previously missing coins and upgrading another dozen.
Yesterday I picked up a fabulous 1880-CC in MS-63. I have also added a 83-CC GSA to my Morgan collection.
but back to your new coin, you cann;ot be trusted with it and you should send it to me for "safekeeping!"
very nice coin.
Congrats.
Well done
