can dipping remove the dark toning but leave the pretty colors?

I doubt it, but since i've never done it, i though i'd ask. I have a barber dime that's got pretty grenn and purple in the center, but the rest of it is dark tarnish. can a dip fix this?

You don't want to do the qtip either - it will give you a weird result no doubt. If the coin is worth it you might consider NCS and see if they can rescue it.

No. Actually since the colors are a functuon of the thickness of the toning layer and the "pretty colors" have thinner toning than the dark colors you would be more likely to lose the pretty colors and keep the dark toning.
