Boxes to hold proof sets?

Does anyone know of a good place to buy boxes that will hold US proof sets? I have the 4 newest sets still in original packaging, and was looking for something to keep them in.

I looked on the mints website, but it looks like their box is meant to hold individual (plastic) cases? I need one that will hold the cardboard box with the cases in it.

Thanks

Chris, the boxes on the US Mint Site do hold the Proof Cardboard boxes (with the plastic cases inside it).

They have two (2) different sizes - one the holds the Quarter Proof Set and a larger one that holds the entire year Proof set.

I know for sure because I have them, I use them for Proof Sets starting with 1999.

  • I haven't seen any so I just use plain ole cardboard boxes. Came across two that are almost a perfect fit. I don't think you're gonna find any box specifically designed to hold mint boxes.
  • last time I checked (about 2 weeks ago) they didn't have any 5x boxes available - only 10x. I couldn't understand why they would sell a 5x but you answered that riddle for me. 5x hold boxes and 10x holds plastic cases

shoe boxes are just the right size.
  • Chris,
Littleton Coin Co. has a box listed in their summer catalog designed especially for U.S. Proof Sets, it's black and has "United States Proof Set Collection" stamped in silver foil on the lid. Description says it will hold up to 32 sets. Looks quite nice. This company has laughable coin prices for the most part, $$$, but they don't seem to be too bad for supplies. Below is a link to them, I didn't see this item on the website, in my catalog it says first-time offer, but there are phone numbers and links there to get a catalog for yourself.

  • Thanks for all of the ideas. I will look into that littleton coin box too. I use littleton for their "coins on demand" service where they send me coins every month and I keep the ones I want. I don't think I have ever kept a coin. =P By the time they arrive, they are damaged from being tossed into an envelope with other coins..... oh welll....

The coins may have already been damaged before they shipped them. Search for a littleton thread under the search option.
