A nice gesture on behalf of the ANA!

I was tempted to post this story long ago but decided to let things play out and hopefully post with a cooler head. Well, things have played out and I do have a cooler head.
At the Long Beach show in June, I loaned a board of 8 nicely toned coins to Gail Baker of the ANA. She had seen the coins and commented that the board would be a valuable teaching prop in one of her classes since it identified the different types of toning and color patterns typically seen on Morgan dollars. Gail said she'd use the board during the month of July and then return it to me at the ANA in New York.
Well, at the ANA she didn't have the board and I could tell she was a bit concerned about its whereabouts. About a week later I called and Gail informed me that the board had not been found. I asked if she thought it was stolen and she assured me it was not. She then said that the ANA would replace the coins but I told her to continue to search for the coins as I'd rather have the originals.
We spoke a few more times and repeatedly she commented that I was being a gentleman about the whole thing by not getting mad and making demands. I guess I just figured that sooner or later they'd find my coins and getting mad wouldn't solve the problem.
Well, they did find my coins and returned them to me before the latest LB show.
At the show I spoke to Gail again and she informed me that because I'd kept my cool, I was invited to attend next year's summer seminar in Colorado Springs free of charge! I thought that was a very nice gesture....especially since I had planned to attend the event.
So, some problems involving the ANA do get resolved in a manner beneficial to both sides!!! Thanks ANA.

For some life lasts a short while, but the memories it holds last forever.

In memory of BL, SM, and KG. 16 and forever young, rest in peace.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Sounds like a great story turned out well. I'm glad that your undoubtedly well prepared exhibit was found and returned safely; I am equaly pleased that Gail and the ANA rewarded your patience and understanding with a nice reward. Gail is a lovely caring person and I am sure she was suffering with you. By the way, where was it discovered?

Maybe they're planning to, but they're just having a little trouble finding it.
