for me........
1936d 3.5 leg buffalo nickel
I've also kinda watched for a nice low grade 1916 DDO nickel. I stupidly passed on a PCGS G4 a couple years ago.

1936-S Oregon Trail PCGS MS66, yesterday, ON LIVE AUCTION EBAY. Just about to bid, when they closed the auction suddenly.
Oh well, there are bigger fish in the ocean.

In the end I think I did OK- I found this one at a nice price, raw. I submitted it to SEGS before I knew their reputation, and it came back F15 with no problems noted, so I was a happy camper. In retrospect, it had the slightest porosity that might have bagged it at PCGS or NGC, and was probably a F12, but it was still nice enough for me at the time. (Note that the pic does not flatter it- it was much nicer in person).
On the "Darkside", there are frequently supposedly cheap coins that are tough to find. When collecting British large pennies toward the end of that pursuit, I had all the keys but lacked some common dates. This has also happened with my current Irish collection.
<< <i>The last 118 Lincoln rpms I need to have a copy of all Wiles'/CONECA listings to date. The money is here, the coins are out there but.... they're tough to put together! >>
I have to say, that's a major-league challenge! To complete something like that is a true quest, where no amount of money is going to solve the problem.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
The other is a 1901s quarter. When ever I have enough saved up to buy it, I can't find it, when I see it, I've already spent the savings elsewhere. Someday I'll get it together at the same time.
Also... a decent accurately graded EF or better Barber Half for a REASONABLE price, and a TY1 Standing Lib Quarter in accurately graded AU at a REASONABLE price.

tristarz,
In light of the fact that the last one to come up sold for $3627.00, I'd like to note that I'm available for adoption.

Not to be too flip about it, but I have seen a few that were really AU in MS-61 or 62 holders. The chances of finding that coin in REALLY circulated condition remote. The coin was issued at $2.00, which was high price for a commemorative half dollar in 1928, and it’s been a sought-after collectors item since then. Not too many people spent them or carried them as pocket pieces.
I know they're "OUT THERE."

Why don't you take a look at the Buy, Sell, and Trade forum here. There is a 71-S PR69 DCAM Kennedy for sale by Alltec. Now, let me go figure up my commission.
That happens to be the last one that sold.

Oh... you wanted one I could afford
I should have been clearer. Chris (Alltec) was the buyer.
