It shouldn't matter. The coin's so damned ugly it would hardly be worth it if they moved the decimal over a space. (OK I got carried awayimage)

Gee let's see the detail is not all that strong, the coin has no mirrored surfaces and it looks like an AU business strike. I guess it must be an ACG Proof! I guess it's a 64 because it has not been whizzed.

  • I think it's an impaired proof.

I always steer clear of the posts trying to grade a scanned image, but I'll make an exception this time. That one missed by a mile.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Ok it's ugly. I do believe that it is a proof with ugly flat gray toning. There is no way I would call it a PF-64 but on the other hand I have seen similar ugly proofs with similar grades from the other services as well. And I wouldn't buy the proofs that the other services had at their grades either.

    edited to correct the contraction.

It looks proof. I would guess that the coin has zero luster, has been over dipped a few dozen times, and ATed to cover the fact it has no luster.

I agree. Send it to the Curration Service and see then what NGC will grade it out as...
    (What's hiding under that toning?)

  • It has the square rims of a proof. I'd guess it is. I don't have any reference matter as to the characteristics of the proof die.
Hard to tell the grade as the scan's a little blurry.

I think the coin is proof... really. It's proof that ACG bites!
