when I paste ctrl v, why do I always get the address of the first thing I ever pasted?

Not sure about that. When you use "Edit, Paste" does it do the same thing?

I think I just figured it out...the address has to be highlighted in the address box before copying. Does this sound right?

Oh yeah. You definitly need to hightlight the address in order to copy it.
