  • all i can say is that sucks....maybe once he starts feelin the heat from OTHER boards members, hell send em back...

pacmans, buy a beckett man, seriously, you never seem to have the prices right image
  • HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT I RIPPED YOU OFF WHEN YOU GOT THE CARDS YOU AGREED TO IN PERFECT CONDITION!?!?

Here’s the TRUE story about the trade between Mike (vittleboy) and I:
I looked at Mike’s tradepage and told him that I liked his Arod jersey/24, KG Finest RC, and Aaron Brooks auto/49. He looked at my tradepage and told me he liked my Kobe/KG dual jersey and Pedro/19. He then offered me the Arod jersey/24, KG Finest RC, and Aaron Brooks auto/49 for the Kobe/KG dual jersey and Pedro/19. We both sent the cards and we both received them in good condition so I thought all should be well.
After we had already agreed to the trade, sent the cards, and received them, he PM’d me asking if the Kobe/KG dual jersey was 2000-2001 or 2001-2002 and I told him it was 2001-2002. He said he thought it was 2000-2001 so I have to send his cards back. I said no way, the trade is already over, I’m keeping them. So he said I misled him, lied to him, ripped him off, and stole his cards.
I had the Kobe/KG dual jersey listed on my tradepage as 2001 Upper Deck, which is correct because that is the year that it actually came out. For instance, the basketball cards that are coming out now, in the year 2002, are 2002-2003. I have all of my basketball and hockey cards listed as the year that they came out. I’ve had them that way for two years, traded with around fifty people, and never had a single problem with anyone not understanding which year they were.
He thought it was the 2000-2001 one, which books for $300, instead of the 2001-2002 one, which books for $100. This was his mistake, I never told him it booked for $300 and I never tried to make him think that it did.
The Arod jersey/24 does not book but he said it’s worth $300. I say it’s only worth $80-$100 because they sell for $40-$50 on eBay and most $100 cards sell for $40-$50. The KG Finest RC books for $80 with the protective film and this one does not have the protective film. The Aaron Brooks auto/49 and the Pedro/19 both book for $75.
Someone told me that I should have known Mike wasn’t going to trade me $180 for $100, well I say he should have known I wasn’t going to trade him $300 for $180. I think he got greedy and thought I didn’t realize it booked for $300, so he took a chance and waited until after the trade was finished to ask me so I couldn’t back out. Who cares about book value, that was my favorite card and I wouldn’t have traded it for any less anyway.
I have PMs, dated way before Mike and I traded, where people asked me how much the Kobe/KG dual jersey booked for and I told them $100. If Mike would have asked I would have told him $100 and provided him with the card #, a scan, and anything else he would have wanted.
He said he’s going to turn me in for mail fraud, but how did I commit mail fraud when we both agreed to the trade and we both got what we agreed to? Isn’t mail fraud when someone steals something through the mail, not when someone carries out a trade that was agreed to by both parties? He made the mistake so I don’t think I should have to find more time in my schedule to go back to the post office, pay to send his cards again, and then end up with the same cards I had to begin with. So since he made a mistake I end up spending $10 on postage and thirty minutes of my time for nothing? We both agreed to the trade, we both got our cards, end of story.
He then posted me as a bad trader and said I lied to him and stole his cards. People believed him and now no one wants to trade with me. I’m looking for any help I can get from the people who know I’m an honest trader and from the people who have had a similar bad experience. Thanks.

  • sounds fishy, but if it is a honest or not mistake.. its on pacmans behalf, to send cards back and make the correction on his site b4 some1 else decides they want a 01 not the 02

I never did like it when people list their cards incorrectly... clearly basketball cards are listed by dual years... IE 01-02 or 00-01... baseball and football.. are listed by singular years... who exactly made the trade offer?
  • mcdee2mcdee2 Posts: 1,150
sadly.. you may not get much backing due to the freeballers connection...

  • 200-300 for the ARod is bs! They sell for $35-$50 on eBay and the one #'d 3/24 only sold for $56. So that's around $100.
  • How can you file for mail fraud on a deal that was agreed upon and fulfilled by both parties? If you send them back to me I just write wrong address return to sender on it and put it back in the mailbox.
  • Vittle,

So basically pacman thought that you were stupid enough to trade $400 cards for $175 worth from him? Or did he know that you were probably misled on the book values and made the trade anyway? Hmmmmm.....

Also, I don't think it's smart to openly admit that you would rip somebody off by "just keeping their cards"....so much for being an honest trader.

  • just send him his cards back. You didnt list the card correctly and you arent losing anything

  • It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks since this was our trade. If the cards were in bad condition or I had lied I would have no problem sending back. I would have been happy to provide book value and a scan before the trade was finalized and sent.
  • How a trader handles a mess up speaks volumes to whether any of us should want to deal with them.

<< <i>How can you file for mail fraud on a deal that was agreed upon and fulfilled by both parties? >>

01, in basketball and hockey, refers to cards released for the 00-01 season. That is an error in listing an item, and by sending a trader a 01-02 card instead is not completeing the trade. When you agree to send one item, but instead send the incorrect year, the other trader is not receiving what they agreed to trade for. So your deal is hardly fulfilled by both parties.

vittles.. I kinda think at this point.. cut your losses and send him enough for postage back

pacman... sorry given your relationship with Ryan and the way you pitch in during freeballers type posts.. it seemed an automatic fit.. again I humbly apologize.

  • << <i>This guy makes me look like a saint...at least I had a conscience...and am making things right with everyone. >>

Saint......making things right with "everyone?" Vittle is the first person who has said anything except that I was an awesome trader. Ask some of my CU refs, psasports, chillin, ejones, etc.
  • I'm not going to send the cards he traded me back whether he sends me money for postage or not, I said if he sends the cards I traded him back even though I said no he will have to send me money for postage or I will just write return to sender on it.
  • A lot of people asked me what that card booked and I told them $100 but you never asked. I didn't lie and tell you it was $300, that was your own assumption. Not too mention I would have sent you a scan upon request too.
  • Well I guess i will Pay for your Shiping. I AM Going to Post you on my Bad Trader List and i will HAve a HyperLink of this next to it on my Refs List. I Will Ask That Everyone Watch out Because he Is not a Good Trader.

  • Pay for my shipping? I'm not going to ship anything.
  • If I get the priviledge of being on your bad trader list, you will get the priviledge of being on mine. What good is that going to do? You made a mistake and you need to get over it. People will still trade with me. Nine people on CU that say I am a good trader outweigh one person on CU that says I'm not. Not too mention my forty other trading refs that say I'm good.
  • Ok I have Talked to a Few People and here is what I am going to do. If You Dont Give me back My Cards, I Will Contact the State Attorney General Of Michigan. I Will File Fraud Charges. Due to your misrepresention.

I'm a bit confused pacman... Is it not possible that you misstated what the card was? Most people assume when a trader lists his cards, he knows what he has. If I had to clarify that the guy had the right card he had listed everytime he made a trade, the process of actually trading would seem endless. The fact that you are declining to just send his cards back might seem to most that you intended on ripping him off from the start.
You must have known that he was assuming it was the other card. Further, you can't say the ARod sells for this much on ebay when you guys were assumably working on "book values". I can understand not wanting to pay postage to ship them back, but just saying you wont get them back at all seems quite shady. Why not just give him the cards back and chalk one up to "$hit happens".

vittle might want to make sure the cards are what he assumes they are in the future... You know what they say about assuming?

LOL - didn't I say assume like 4 times...? image

Guess I should pay more attention

  • As much as it kills me to say this...Vittles is right and i think Vittles is a Azz.image So comming for me it means alot. LOL.

Pacman you are WRONG and need to send back the trade or atleast make up the difference. If you dont make it right your rep on CU will be trashed as you have not been here long enough. I know i would not deal with you and will warn others also if you do not make it right. Word of mouth goes along way especially when your name gets posted on all sportscard forum sites as a thief or scammer. Is it really worth it to screw one person over a trade?

Step up and be the better man and do the right thing.

  • Pacman, send the cards back and pay for the shipping too. It's like $3. Also, you should go through your site and make sure you cards are listed correctly and buy a Beckett.

  • pacman, you should send him his cards back. You knew that the card you had booked for $100 and not $300, so essentially, you knew you we're ripping him off. You made a mistake, now correct it. Vittle is right. Either send his cards back, or risk you're reputation.
