Is this REALLY an MS-65?

If it is, I 'll have to re-review my collectionimage

Looks like a low end 65 to me even with the suff on the cheek and neck. The overall look of the coin is nice.
  • The marks might not be as heavy as they appear in the picture.

Looks like one of those NGC65 pieces that you would hardly ever see graded as such by PCGS. I certainly would not judge this to be MS65.

I've seen plenty of morgans like this graded 65 by PCGS. I'm sure the marks are not very deep. Strong strike and above avg luster, what's the problem.

  • let me correct myself - the link YOU provided Dheath - IS one of my auctions. The one that is the TOPC of this thread - IS NOT.

The coin you are referring to in YOUR link is one that I asked about in a google forum and also in 2 other coin BB's - not this one. I like this one and know how you guys are about stuff like that. I know NOW anyway image

Golly Gee For Real Man- We just need to click your My Auctions link. I don't see you posting that everyone says your 1900 Morgan is harshly cleaned!

Coynclector: The problem is I have 70 Morgans graded MS65, and 69 of them have fewer marks than the piece in this thread. If this is what a typical MS65 looks like these days, I'm going to have to change my moniker to Gemtone66, or Almostgem65.

I don't think it is a 65, however, it is still two grades higher than anything I've seen you auctioning as such.
