Diane Hager responds:
<< <i>Diane Hager, owner of Accugrade, asked, "Shouldn't the customer base be the people responding?" The selection of Vartian to receive the results, when he is a counsel for both PNG and PCGS, creates a question of conflict of interest, she said. >>

All the yammering about bias is really moot. The Guild itself does not submit coins, and anyone who knows anybody realizes that the individuals among the membership would state their feelings without caring WHO the Guild's official grading service is. The bottom line is that the opinion of the people who submit the most coins for grading is a VERY strong recommendation (or CONDEMNATION) for the services.
I do hope that the results are published and widely so, as I have no doubt who will be so far down the scale as to be LOWER than whalesh*t! (I know how I rated them).

It will be easy for people to claim that dealers would be reluctant to not vote PCGS highly, since they can't afford to take a chance on ticking them off, and Vartian will see everyone's responses.
The outfits that don't fare very well in the survey will just claim bias, which will take away from the importance of the results. I agree with griffin6 that in reality people will answer honestly, but they are giving ammunition to those who have reason to fear the survey. All they had to do was have an CPA or some other independent party tally the results.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
I believe from time to time all the grading services should send out a customer survey. It would be a great way to find out what the customer likes and dislikes about their services and in the end can result in the grading services making improvements, if improvements are required.
