Blue box vs. Green box

I have an opportunity to buy some used PCGS boxes. I can choose between blue and green. I know the current ones are blue. Do the current slabs fit in the green boxes? I saw a thread here a while ago where several people were interested in green boxes. Perhaps they are older, but I don't want something that doesn't work with current slabs. Any advice?

Thanks!
Tom

They're identical, except green. I like the green better.

  • I think the green boxes were made when production standards were more conservative and a lot of people think they will upgrade. I've never noticed a difference myself. image

    John,
    You cracked me up!

Don - Thanks much for the info. Think I'll buy a couple of each.

Mix them. That way you can know what might be in one box by it's color.

Get a few of each. This way your wife can color coordinate you when you dress up for the coin show.

I happen to like the smoked colored NGC boxes better since they fix both NGC and PCGS slabs.

I don't see any difference between the green and blue PCGS boxes. They are both inferior to the NGC boxes that provide far better protection for PCGS, NGC and PCI slabs. SEGS slabs are too big to fit in either box.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
  • Bill is quite right, NGC boxes are much better than the PCGS boxes. Plus that smoky black color with the gold logo looks nicer than either PCGS box IMO.
  • I thought you got the green boxes in the days when PCGS labeled the coins with green labels. When they went to blue labels they went to blue boxes.

I agree the NGC boxes are superior.
  • They're all correct - get the NGC boxes!
  • One more vote for the NGC boxes.
