Yes I freely admit to gouging AC. Not only did I undercut the competition but I used new packs of pennysleeves as packing material. It's all part of my devious plan. As for his grading skills, I am indeed jealous, in fact to such an extent that I will charge him exactly the same amount next time
I am now forced to taunt you a second time...I wave my private parts in your general direction.
Regardless of the continual abuse that you heap my way...I will endeavor to help you upgrade you 1971 pregrading skills. Hopefully, this will allow you to turn those PSA 3's and 4's into PSA 5's and 6's.
OK. I am getting tired of this. And frankly I don't think I deserved to be bashed like this either.
FOR THE RECORD. Jim, I am very sorry, that I dropped as low as I did, and said what I said. It was wrong of me. Furthremore, As waittilltheytrytosell said and I agree with him, and did not think of it that way from your perspective. That you by no means want to or mean to sell your cards.
Now, the thing that got me upset the most was not your pricing. Hell, I would probably charge your pricing as well, if or when I ever get rid of my set, but that is years down the road.
The thing that got me flustered and upset was they way that you mocked me. That I felt was completely uncalled for as well. Just like the comment I made back to you, and again I appologize for it.
As I states before. I am a collector myself, and strangely enough I do get satisfaction from helping another collector finish and/or upgrade a set. Just recelty I upgraded a 1949 Bowman card to a PSA-8 in the set I am working on. I then in turn offered the PSA-7 to another collector for what I paid for it. I figured why hang onto it. So I got my money back out of it. That is all I wanted.
These are just my thoughts

P.S. Jim...i see that you mention the Ft. Washington show quite a bit. Are you from the area, or are you going ot travel just fo the show?
Rob...Rob...Rob.... EVERYONE needs a little bashing now and then! Don't let the bastiches get you so wound up!
He thought your public service idea was a little wacky & You thought the guy was a sphincter and said so....what's the harm in that??? Now is NOT the time to be backing off your original sphincter idea! Trust me on this one. Please reverse course while you still have some dignity left. Get editing now and let's just pretend like your last message never happened. Remember, YOU'RE the victim... NOT HIM!!!

This board sure proves that. (Unless, of course, you just got your arse kicked by the BMW customer service manager.)
Except for "the fight" thread on the other forum and Marshall Fogel's threads on this forum, I haven't seen much interesting stuff lately. Including the bilge I write.
No problem. Said in the heat of the moment and I understand. I work on Wall Street where there is a lot of yelling and screaming so confrontation doesn't bother me a bit. I live within an hour and a half drive of Ft. W. and make it down there every show. And your set is great and you should be proud of it...and maybe at some point I will try to add more 9s to the set...but I only sell my 9s at big premiums to what I feel that they are worth and the prices I am quoting you are much more than they are worth.
This game is about rarity. look at your collection. 7's 8's 9's 10's COMMON!!! DEAD COMMON!!! Check your pop report. 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's, 10's......They abound. Check the 1-3's Aha! Pop rarities!! I'm just an avante-garde trendsetter. Now who's going to be the jealous one? Everyone talks about upgrading...upgrade this, upgrade that. Not with me. Downgrade! get the same card and have a few extra bucks in the pocket. Don't tell me that I have the intellect of a house-plant!
Waving your private parts? It's no wonder that the Govt. now insists on a health warning on the tail of every shirt.
One of my favorite writeups that I ever did on ebay was for a PSA 1 Payton RC. Would you believe - that card is RARER in a 1 than a 10? I wrote it up as "possibly the worst Payton rookie ever graded!"
Card sold for $60...about the price of an ungraded ExMt one. Amazing...that's when I was convinced that ANYTHING in a holder will sell for more than outside...
Why do I get the feeling, that some cards are worth money, while others are not?
Oddly enough, I recall an article in Beckett not too long ago, that actually stated something to effect of lower graded cards will be assuming higher premiums than cards graded 8! Another reason I didn't renew my subscription this year...
Alan> Whine all you want about getting bent over on the card savers. You will have to admit that ZAG is still the best "money-for-grade" grading special in the industry
Steve Novella can be reached at damone@megalink.net. He does not have a store but works out of his office in Maine. He used to do shows and occasionally an auction but now pretty much exclusively mail order. I give Steve all my lower graded duplicates which he then sells privately or on ebay. He is honest, knowledgable and has a long history selling graded cards--originally with Greg Manning Auctions. You can also reach him at 207-539-4021.
Not to beat a dead horse but If you have ever read any of MikeSchmidt's(a.k.a Marc S.) post's where people have tried to get his PSA 9 Phillies cards , he freely admits that he is going to want outrageous prices for these cards, many multiples of SMR. Ask a certain someone on this board about some 1951 BOWMAN Phillies in PSA 9 he has and the going rate for these cards. I can see where you could have been offended , but if you think about it you will realize where Davalillo is coming from.

Well -- let me say one thing: Davalillo points out earlier in this thread that he sold one of his pop 1 high number 1951 Bowman PSA 9 commons for $3,000. The two that I have are both pop 1 cards, and I am willing to part with them for "only" $2,000 each. I do not dispute that it is a significant amount of money -- but that is my going price for these cards. I have had one offer at $1,000 each and one offer at $1,500 each. So despite my ludicrous price, I think I am at least generally in the ballpark.
Hey -- I am a small-time collector on a budget that would make people like Davalillo pale. I have beenable to put together a nice 1955 Bowman set, a nice Mike Schmidt run of cards, as well as a few choice Phillies cards here and there (I am particularly proud of some of my ungraded T-206 and other rare caramel/tobacco/magazine Phillies cards). I am always looking to expand in each of those arenas -- but oftentime, I can only make significant acquisitions in one at the expense of the other.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
