An eBay mistake... what can be done.

I just watched an item sold on eBay using the BIN. Just posted item. The trouble is, I know it was a mistake. I know the seller and he put the wrong price on his coin. He must of gotten confused putting multiple lots up. He just sold a $200-$250 coin for a BIN of $52.

When he realizes this has been done. Does he have any recourse, or does he have to make good on the sale?

The seller dosen't have to accept it but he might get negative feedback.

If he's smart he will tell the buyer fast that it was a mistake and he can't sell the item for that price so don't send payment.

Ah, I think what was done is he sold a PCGS 66 coin, listed by accident as being a PCGS 67. So rather than the buyer getting an MS67 coin too cheap, it would be him getting a MS66 coin at an average price.
In that case I presume the buyer would have absolute right of refusal on the purchase.

  • that happened to me with an ms67 kennedy in the title and he was selling an ms 66. it went cheap enough to keep it anyway.
  • If the title and the item don't match, the buyer can refuse the auction and both seller and buyer are off the hook - no harm no foul.

  • I say tuff luck to the seller, if there too stupid to sell there stuff at 150.00 less than the true value, then there dumb, and the recoursew is not ebay its the seller paying atention to what they sell, what if it were the other way around ?

Obviously it was an honest mistake. And my concern was for the seller. If the BIN hadn't all ready been triggered by someone, I would have done it, and then contacted the seller to assure him there would be no problem getting it straightened out.
