What Am I missing (1938D NGC67 Dime Cheap?)

I watched this Auction for a 1938-D Mercury Dime NGC-67 as it closed, and even thought about bidding on it because the price seemed so cheap (Red Flag!!!).

From what I can tell, price guides indicate this coin should be worth almost $200, but it sold for about 1/4th that price.

Is there something I'm missing or did I miss out on a bargan?

  • It would have to have the FB (full bands) to be worth $200.00

That proves PCGS is more valuable than NGC at selling time. NGC is worth ¼ as much. image Plus you can't put it in a PCGS Reg Set plus it has a big hit on the rev plus it has bad sunburst and hits on the obv. Junky coin.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.

no... PCGS says $196 in 67; $250 for FB

  • You would never get $196 in PCGS or NGC holders for that coin. I still think it has to be FB PCGS to command that type of prices.
