For those who did not get the chance to read the write-up about Cameron Kiefer who was recently named as the ANA's outstanding YN, I've copied the PR release below:

CAMERON KIEFER HONORED AS ANA'S 2002 OUTSTANDING YN

At the American Numismatic Association (ANA) Summer Seminar Young
Numismatists (YN) Auction in July, Cameron Kiefer of Visalia,
California, was named the 2002 recipient of the ANA Award for
Outstanding Young Numismatist. He also was recognized at the Abe Kosoff
YN Awards Breakfast, sponsored by the Professional Numismatists Guild
(PNG), at the ANA's 111th Anniversary Convention in New York City, July
31 to August 4, 2002.
Established in 1968, the award annually recognizes the numismatic
achievements of top young collectors, selected on the basis of club and
community involvement; numismatic exhibits, talks and articles; and
personal achievements. The winner receives a life membership in the ANA
and a gold coin donated by former YN of the Year Mark Hotz.
Kiefer is a business major at the College of the Sequoias in
California. Last year he has served as an ANA intern, working with the
Association's Education Department, Museum Services and Library. Before
becoming an intern, Kiefer attended the ANA Summer Seminar as a student.
This year he received the Stephen R. Taylor Memorial Scholarship to
attend the seminar, where he helped organize the YN auction that raised
more than $6,000 for YN scholarships.
Active in numismatics for more than eight years, Kiefer is a member of
many numismatic clubs, including the ANA, California State Numismatic
Association (CSNA), Franklin Collectors Club, Fresno Numismatic Society,
Northern California Numismatic Association, Pacific Coast
Numismatic Association, Professional Coin Grading Service Collectors
Club, Visalia Coin Club and Young Numismatists of America (YNA). He
serves as vice president of his home-town coin club, president of the
Golden West High School Coin Club, which he founded in 1999, and YNA
historian. He is a frequent contributor to "Your Newsletter," ANA's
weekly electronic newsletter for young collectors and advisors. Kiefer
also responds to questions posted on two Internet sites to help young
numismatists and collectors learn more about the hobby.
Kiefer has been very active in his school and community coin clubs,
setting up exhibits, giving presentations and writing articles for his
college and home town newspapers, as well as the CSNA journal Calcoin
News. In 2001 he picked up the mantle of editing the Franklin Collectors
Club newsletter and has witnessed an increase in club membership.
For these and many other accomplishments, the ANA is pleased to present
Cameron Kiefer with the Young Numismatist of the Year Award.
Mark
