    >>>>>>Monsterman do you 'crack out' the coins you submit to PCGS at the shows or submit them in the holder>>>>>>>>

9 times out of 10 i crack `em and let them grade `em.....its too easy for them to peek!!.......i really never ever want to buy a coin i would be affraid to crack....however sometimes i send it in the holder where there is a huge spread....just incase they get the feeling that well...its a 68 put lets make `em pay for it .........but lets not screw him and put it into a 67 ( which is what it was ) where he gives up and sells it ...and the next submitter gets the upgrade ( when this happens it tends to pi$$ off the first submitter... i saw a dealer one time go into a tirade....he bought a 100 piece fresh niclel deal....he spent 10,000 for a 1 day walk thru....he went 0 for 100.....he blew the deal out 2 days later at a show at a small profit........a very sharp ungrader bought 20 coins and sent them in the same day and went 9 of 20 costing the dealer about 60,000.....thats why he was throwing things around the room )......so that 67 coin a shot 68 might come back in a 66 holder...so you will then say....how stupid is that ...and send it in again...more submissions = more money....for the services.....fact is ngc is more consistent .....the reason is simple ....they are not # 1 and cant afford the games...pcgs on the other hand can afford the games ....UP UNTIL THE MARKET GETS WISE.....thats why i have been posting all this stuff.......so the market gets informed and they get wise ....then pcgs will stop with the games......they better look over their shoulder...that use to be blurr behind them is now a "clear as glass" logo ....AND IT SAYS NGC

    >>>>>also have you found that certain dealer submitters seem to have a higher success rate and others seem to be on a black list?>>>>>>

well they do have people who pay tens of thousands of dollars in fees a month and they do throw them a bone every so often in order to cover their expenses....thats why they like to submitt my coins because they use them as feelers just to see if they indeed are getting discriminated against

    >>>>>When you submit to NGC does it differ from the way you submit to PCGS.>>>>>

    same way

    >>>>>>>Although I was influenced years ago by PCGS the past couple of years I have been considering switching to NGC their grading seems more consistent and their customer service is dramatically better.>>>>>>>

YOU HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD....THATS WHY I SWITCHED...CONSISTENCY.......AND NO GAMES

    >>>>>.Indeed at the ANA a number of serious old time gold collectors were considering changing services for the same reasons- basically they felt PCGS had become arrogant>>>>>>

YES THERE IS DEFINATELY A TREND THERE .....A LOT OF MAJOR GUYS HAVE BEEN SWITCHING...AND MINOR ONES TOO ....THE DUMB THING ABOUT IT IS ALL LOGIC.....AND I CANT IMAGINE ANYONE BEING REALLY SUCESSFULL SAYING " I ONLY BUY PCGS"....TO ME ....THAT IS DUMBER THAN DUMB...NOW THINK ABOUT IT...IN THE COMMEM SERIES MORE THAN HALF OF ALL THE MONSTERS ARE IN NGC HOLDERS....THUS THEY CANT POSSIBLY COMPETE WITH ANYONE WHO OWNS BOTH BECAUSE THEY HAVE ALL READY ELIMINATED OVER HALF THE EXISTING POPULATION TO BUY FROM...NOW TO ME THATS ABOUT AS DUMB AS IT GETS

if i buy a coin and it is a 68...and if pcgs is undergrading as they have been i`ll send it to ngc.....where it should be properly graded......if you believ in gradeflation WHICH IT A FACT...then if i want to sell it in 2 years...at that time i`ll do what ever is necessary at that time....if its worth more in a pcgs holder then i`ll cross it ( the gradeflation will take care of that )........if the market has woken up by then it will stay in the holder its in.........WHAT YOU DONT WANT TO HAPPEN IS TO GO TO SELL AND HAVE THE SERVICES IN ONE OF THEIR MOODS WHERE THEY HAVE TIGHTENED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND NOTHING IS WORKING ANYWHERE

    oreville

    >>>>>Somehow I have a feeling these undergraded coins will be worth more in their undergraded condition>>>>>>

that thinking cost me 250,000..........sometimes undergraded coins go for ga ga money...it is usually ego driven.....but the bulk of the coins go for what the number says on the holder

    >>>>>just look at what happend to the 1955 DDO cent that sold for a fortune in a PCGS MS-65R holder then got slabbed as a NGC MS-66R then had to be sold at a loss>>>>>>>>>>>

now think about that......its the same coin!!!!!!!!the reason it sold for gag ga money in the frist place is because 2 guys who had the $$$ wanted it ........when it came back on the market one of those guys was gone......not to hard to figure out that if there are 10 guys bidding at 10,000........and 2 from 12,000 to 24,000....then the underbidder got the best deal as he spent nothing...the winner gets the dunce cap and goes to the corner..........as i will offer him 12,000 for his coin because less the underbidder thats all i should have to pay

I take it you like collecting the Liberty nickel series. Do you have a registered set, I would like to look it over. Also do you like and purchase a lot of pop 1 coins. Most folks here have a first name.

    Just curious,

Sometimes I just don't understand you!

You were never the "undertackler" or the assisting tackler in the Pros. You were always the lead in gang tackling! You used to be much more aggressive in tackling those great coins, as I recall image Come-on!

When did you change your approach to tackling coins? Why? Was it the injuries and a realization that always being the first tackler shortened your career? (After all, that Matthews fellow on the line ...brother of the Brown's Matthews...played nearly forever!)
