How much can one expect out of this bar ?

The refinery didn’t want the iridium . Just the platinum. I’m not sure what to offer.

Probably shop around at some more refiners and probably some rare earth minerals dealers / processors?
If you don't need to sell it quickly, take your time to find some better offers.

I had no idea that iridium was that valuable, approximately $9,134 per troy ounce. Does anybody know why it would be alloyed with platinum which is essentially a "junk" metal in that bar?

My guess would be that 1) platinum group metals are very hard to refine / separate from each other, so casting this ingot was just one step in processing the material and 2) iridium usually is getting alloyed with platinum anyway because otherwise it's a very brittle material and can't be worked / tooled properly.

I think iridium is so brittle that it is almost impossible to cast or use in pure form. By allowing with platinum, you have an exceptionally useful material.

(So, agree with Gottinger above; it seems that this is a standard alloy; really cool bar though a little pricey!)
