Surprised no one posted this yet.
Coin News announces a 2026 ASE with Team US Privy:

Wish I knew how to get one. To clarify, I wish I knew an Olympian who would sell one to me.

Looks like the collectors edition is coming out. Nothing more to say at this point

Very cool. Hopefully people can refrain from derailing this thread. Those will be a rarity on the open market, unless they decide to release some to the public.

Where did you see the collectors edition is coming out later? The article says nothing was announced about if they would release them.

Beach did not disclose whether additional examples were produced beyond those presented to the athletes or whether any could eventually become available to collectors.

    ........

This is an exciting surprise and a true rarity, assuming they don't make them available elsewhere.

Maybe they will "sprinkle some in" to ASE Monster boxes. Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Maybe they could toss in a couple Olympic gold medals also. Maybe a Nobel Prize also.

I think I'd feel less special as an Olympian if my WH gift ended up being a regular old ASE available to the general public.

All comments reflect the opinion of the author, even when irrefutably accurate.

This is no doubt true. I'd be surprised if any of the recipients are coin collectors. For them it's a shiny souvenir of a White House visit. Wait until they find out that it's worth possibly thousands of dollars.

    From interweb AI:

The event honored more than 120 American athletes, coaches, and staff who competed at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Nearly half of the Team USA winter delegation joined the celebration in Washington, DC.

Based on that I'm assuming the mintage was no more than a few hundred, and perhaps half of that.

There were 232 athletes on the 2026 US Olympic Team official roster, per https://www.teamusa.com/milano-cort...mpics/roster and a 72-member Paralympic Team. If coaches and staff were designated to receive one, the mintage quantity of 300 seems light.

    Other potential recipients could include:

    • Coaches
    • "C" suite executives of USOC Corporate Sponsors
    • Members of Congress
    • US Olympic Committee Members
    • USOC Donors of a significant sum
    • Treasury and US Mint Officials
    • POTUS

Immediately becomes the rarest (and most valuable) ASE ever ?
Could the full retail packaging put-up (sleeve, COA, clamshell box) indicate a version of this will make its way to the general public. . .?

Something probably will. That Fall schedule is very light (Aside from the super hero stuff and proof set)

To reiterate what I posted earlier, an internet search says:

The event honored more than 120 American athletes, coaches, and staff who competed at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. Nearly half of the Team USA winter delegation joined the celebration in Washington, DC.

So, they were apparently presented to those who were in attendance, including coaches. The question would be, will they be sent to those who didn't show up for the event.

The Mint and the USOC are missing out on a great fund-raising opportunity by not making twenty thousand or more of these available to collectors at a premium price point ($500 ? $1,000 ? More ?) for the benefit of US Olympic training programs. Of course, that would require marketing savvy on the part of the brain trust of both organizations. . .ASE collectors have voted with their wallets, demonstrating the demand for any PM issues, even bullion examples, e.g., the 2024 Star PM and 2025's Eagle PM.

8 months after the Olympics are over to market an Olympics privy?

That sounds like a commemorative that would require Congressional authority.

The addition of the privy for distribution as was done here is one thing, but raising money for an outside organization is another.

However, leveraging the Sukver Eagles for commemorative coins is an interesting concept. That would have a built in customer base.

Side-stepping Congressional authority doesn't appear to be a concern anymore.
One could argue the privy marked ASE's issued over the last few years were de facto commemoratives.

    Isn't USOC fund raising a year-round sport ?

No one has sidestepped anything - there are multiple legislative authorizations that provide the authority to do different things.

One could argue the privy marked ASE's issued over the last few years were de facto commemoratives.

But they aren't charging a huge premium for those privies and then giving the money to an outside entity....

Or they could sell Olympic gold medals for $10k each and really make money.

It would look like any other ASE you've ever seen from recent years.

I heard through the grapevine that they're struck from the same dies as the 2026-P proofs which makes sense. Frankly, if they only released a few hundred of these they're going to be worth a LOT more than the Olympic medals IMO. Any guesses what an OGH TEAM USA Privy is worth with a mintage of 300?

What is that finish? It looks like it’s sandblasted dull, like a 1921 Peace Dollar.

it's a regular shiny proof. the press release on this used a strange mockup but I saw a photo of one in the box and it looks like a 2026-P Proof

If the mintage of these stays at 300, I'd say the US Mint gave the members of Team USA a six-figure bonus!

I wonder if any who received them has so much as a clue as to their significance. Probably not.

Members of congress? W a mintage of 300 thats less than the number of members of congress alone.

    The Greysheet Listing :
    https://www2.greysheet.com/prices/item/2026-american-eagle-one-dollar-silver-coin-one-ounce-bullion-proof-strike-team-usa-privy/gsid/402073
indicates a "P" mintmark. Not a Greysheet user/subscriber so I have no opinion on the veracity of the listing. The same reddit photo seen in this thread is in the listing. . .
