I found a little time capsule from 1982

oih82w8oih82w8 Posts: 13,051 ✭✭✭✭✭

I stumbled across a file cabinet at my childhood home and there some interesting items of yesteryear. Nothing rare, just lots of early 80's and before Lincoln Cents and a couple of sets Lincoln Varieties of 1982, and a Coin Prices Magazine from Sept 1982. One of these days i will have to look through these for varieties.

I love the old magazines. My childhood was filled with that and CoinAge magazines.

Going through the rolls should be fun. Hope you find something interesting.

US Rare Coin Certification & Trading Co

This short lived slab was likely used in the late 1980's or 1990. U.S. Rare Coin Certification and Trading Co., Inc (USRCCTC). was a subsidiary of Crystal Coin, Inc. The firm certified, graded and liquidated coins for clients on a consignment basis. It looks like USRCCTC existed from about 1986-1990 but it is unknown how long the slab was used, because it was originally formed as a type of precursor to CAC, According to the 1988 edition of Scott Travers' The Coin Collector's Survival Manual.

"The ultimate new grading service is one that grades the grading services: U.S. Rare Coin Certification and Trading Co., Inc (351 Main St., Wakefield, MA 01880) says it will tell you if your coin certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NCI [this was 1988] has been graded fairly, strictly, or too liberally."

Here's the link to a CU post from 2017 in regards to this company, however most of the documented links are dead. https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/977567/before-there-was-cac
