NGC Black Complete Proof Set
I remember this set selling on GC a couple years ago for six figures. Subsequently the Barber 25c and the 5c were sold off on GC individually. It surprises me the set would be broken up. Any inside info on the set? Is someone slowly selling off in hopes of a greater overall return? The 25c brought 14k and I think the 5c was 8-10K.

Shame to break up that set. Those black holders were very cool, especially when containing gold.
Cool set, ugly toning though.
Crack and dip. Place in a Whitman folder for a couple of decades. Should be fine by then.

I swear I've seen this set in a youtube video many moons back... It was presented as a fresh to market set in a very desirable black core slab...
Yea I spit some coffee on that
Perhaps that is how the original coins received their toning?
Well that is something you don't see every day. Fantastic holders. Watching a Black NGC on GC as we speak and it's doing well.

No, this is classic OGP toning for the era (as evidenced by the circle shaped tone patterns on the larger coins from where smaller coins sat for years). I imagine it is quite attractive under axial lighting.

BTW, where’s the cent?
Anyone else a bit perplexed as to why a foreign entity hasn't replicated these slabs?
Racism?
This set has been around a while right? Sold a few times? It has not been hiding?
Normally I buy the plastic, but in this case, Barber's are my least favorite series. I wouldn't be a bidder.
The NGC 1.0 on GC currently is nice, gold CAC to boot!
