Many of the contemporary Morgan dollar counterfeits in the Micro O family are anachronistic die marriages. Here's the latest, 1899-O VAM 51, which uses a reverse die of the C4 hub design, which wasn't introduced until mid-1900. This same reverse die was also paired with a counterfeit 1893 obverse.

In many ways, the entire hobby is a bit anachronistic......

What about Conder tokens? Don't know if they qualify per the definition of anachronistic, but they're definitely quirky and not many collectors who prize them.

After the British issued some screw press coins like this one ...

They went back to issuing hammered coins like this one.

Crazy saga of the screw press in England. It was brought there from France by Eloye Mestrelle at the queen's behest. It was slower, required lengthy maintenance after breaking down, seen as a job security threat, and eventually discontinued. Mestrelle was dismissed from the mint in 1572 and was hanged for counterfeiting in 1578. 90 years later the hammered coins were finally phased out by a more effective and reliable screw press.

Anachronistic ?? "Anachronistic means existing out of its time in history, such as a piece of furniture or a language that is outdated."

I believe the OP's intent was to show a coin where one side was temporally out of place.

    Once more, something British.

Which one do you think looks more like Henry VII? (ruled 1485 to 1509), He was Henry VIII's daddy.

    This one

    Or this one?

The British invited a German states die maker to come and improve their coins.

Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

That style was around since the 1279 Edward I recoinage.
