The 1971 OPC baseball project continues to move along at a snail's pace. Jonesing to buy something, I picked up this really sharp 1981 Topps baseball vending box. I don't really collect 1980's but I figure I can sock this away for a little bit and resell it down the road. It's amazing how long Topps used this exact style box. I know they were around in the mid-'70's and (maybe) through the '90's?
Nice. I purchased a 81 vending box months ago. 80 percent of the box was way off center and I mean 80/20 90/10 off center. I swore that would be the last vintage box I would ever open again. The condition of the cards (not counting the centering) was top notch. For the 20% that was centered I submitted 8 cards to PSA and received 4 PSA 9's and 4 PSA 8's.
Not sure I've ever seen a '77 Topps Football rack with sticks of gum in the middle cell. Pretty cool. Also got Richard Todd and Pat Haden rookies showing on the back. Way cool.
Not in hand yet but was happy to win this last night in the Heritage auction. Felt like nice timing after a season of winning 4 games with SF in terms of lower demand but think in 6 to 8 years the card will be wanted more.
Appreciate the career and the card design. Think its a cool photo too. Dont see a lot of pitcher cards with very tall trees behind them.
This was a wild flea market find yesterday! Walking through an antique section of a flea market, i come across a 1988 fleer wax box. I open it and its filled with 88 fleer cards. I see a Jordan sticker on top so I figured I'll take the chance for the price tag of $15! I get home and uncover a ton of gems, 8 Jordans, numerous RCs, tons of stars. Over 400 cards total. Looks like someone opened the packs years ago and put the cards back into the box.
What I Collect:
PSA HOF Baseball Postwar Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 80.51% Complete)
PSA Pro Football HOF Rookie Players Set Registry- (Currently 19.80% Complete)
PSA Basketball HOF Players Rookies Set Registry- (Currently 6.02% Complete)

Back in the July/August timeframe...
Picked up this Lou RC. I think he has a shot at the HOF in the future.

A small addition to one of my obscure 1994 Topps sets
Before and after the hunt..... can't pay 100k plus for a PSA 9 so why not grab a nice Minty PSA 2?

I haven't really bought any graded cards for sometime now but have been looking a little.
I landed this "pack inserted" Kobe 4/5 on a Fanatics Premier Auction - it's a POP 1 Double 10.
David…
You have a good eye…congrats on the Koufax RC pickup!
from a 78 wax pack I bought off net54
Some eBay pick ups

Added a minty fresh / 2nd year Hernandez - one of my fav players....
More for my set.

what is the story behind the Herbie purchases?

This came Friday.

Did you buy the Yount or submit it to PSA? If submitted what grade did you think you would receive?
congrats Darin that's a beautiful Yount.
I bought it on eBay.

I like how the Knicks are referred to as Knickerbockers on their cards. Seriously old school.
So old school that Reggie Miller & Chris Mullin both still had their hair and the Washington Wizards we’re still the Washington Bullets then.
