A NEWP of a Gold $1. Type 2 Small Head Indian Princess

While this is one of the two common dates of the one dollar type 2 Indian Princesses, finding an acceptable example takes some work. Even though this is only an MS62, it has above average luster, and the strike is only slightly weak at the central portion of the reverse, which is more often the case than not. For me, the eye appeal overrode the ms62 grade. Plus I thought the obverse and reverse clash marks were cool too. Thanks for looking. Zack.

Great coin! That's a type where I would never say a piece is "only" mint-state-anything. Finding a likeable one at any grade and price point is, as you found, not easy at all. I think yours looks terrific.
@mirabela, thanks and I do agree with you. This one said buy me!
My favorite gold dollar type. Nice!
Quite a strong die clash
Beautiful coin !
I've always had a thing for type II dollars.
So unusual with the full date. Nice pickup Zack - I like it!

Thanks Ken. Me too.
I spotted this one at a Winter FUN show years ago and really like it. It's graded MS-63.
Zack, I know I’ve said it in another thread but it merits repeating. That’s an outstanding 62! So happy you were able to find one with a better strike and an unmolested date for that grade.
I searched for quite a while before a member here turned me on to this one. Similar to yours. I scooped it up immediately.
@Downtown1974, your 1854 is so well struck for that date. Obviously CAC thought so too. Don’t know if mine has previously been sent to CAC.
I find them charming as well. My only example is low grade but my one criteria for replacement is natural surfaces and that has proven easier said than done in the decade I have been looking. The one or two I have seen have go for 1.5-2x auction levels

Awesome coin!
I would like one in MS64 but I don’t know if that will ever happen, not just price, but just trying to find one that I like enough to justify that price…
I currently have an AU58, I will keep that no matter what I buy in the future because it’s such a choice example.
What’s really cool is that it does not have clashing, they almost always do!
