@jfriedm56: thanks, as always! The set can be found in PCGS Set Registry under the heading I mentioned above. Each coin has pics. The set is named “Indy Flyers”. I haven’t added the above coin as the seller hasn’t released it from his inventory yet. This is an all too common issue with adding coins in a Registry set, but eventually works itself out. When I’m able to add it, I’ll edit the post & indicate this.
Update (6/30): The set is now complete in Registry. Ranking is #2 in active sets & #3 all time (behind two legendary pattern collectors)! The former owner never did comply with my request to release the coin, but set Registry did so after I submitted time/date stamped pics.

Ken, I know the frustration of trying to add a newly acquired coin to my registry sets, that is still indicated belonging in the previous owners set. Eventually it clears itself up with a little work on our part. What's next? Zack.
@jfriedm56: Zack - you’re right (& that owner is a well known & highly regarded collector who should know better)! It’s looking like the time/date pics will be needed but I can’t do that until Wednesday.
Next: for this set, I’m keeping it active to see if I can improve any of the slots. There are 4 of the 12 not CAC approved, so there’s that. Maybe I can push it higher into #1. The current #1 is the collector that persuaded me into patterns. Some irony there!
By design, I’m slowly adding type gold & that’s been a fun ride. Otherwise, always looking for a nice FE or IHC. Finally, nice CAC approved types + “mini” sets. Example of the latter is the 3 type 1 1913 Buffaloes. That was fun & a bit nostalgic.
What about you? I noticed you’re really into commemoratives. That’s an area I know zero about. How about other coins, though?
Thanks, as always, for your commentary!
Ken
@Copperindian, wow, those are still lofty goals on your part Ken.
As for me, continuing to add to my:
FE, IHC, Lincoln cent, Buffalo nickel, SLQ, Walkers, Classic Commems, Morgan & Peace dollar and my Type set.
Never been able to focus on one group. Maybe that’s the problem! If I see a coin I like, and the price is in my budget, I’ll own it.( if only for a short time in its history).
Zack.
Pattern noob here. I think that's because 99% of the patterns I see are either issues that don't appeal to me or they cost more than my house haha.
Just got this back from CAC yesterday. This pattern really does have a good story:
First US gold pattern
First US gold dollar
Steam press was first used at the US Mint in March 1836 which may explain why this looks like a modern proof (Can someone smarter than me confirm if this is correct, please?)
Same 90/10 alloy used in regular-issue gold coins (also made of copper, gilt copper & a gold/silver alloy which is wild)
Features the Liberty or Phrygian Cap which symbolizes freedom and liberty
Unknown mintage and some midnight restrikes occurred
Per CoinFacts "it is impossible to tell the originals from the restrikes, but it may be possible to make that determination based on weight or alloy measurements". PCGS said mine was an original (I submitted it raw FYI) so that's cool.
