An eBay steal, aka my "TOUCHDOWN! coin" after the wild celebration that ensued upon seeing the PCGS grade posted for the first time. Just a wonderful numismatic moment, scoring an MS63 coin for well below a Poor-1 price. The coin was purchased while I was in a deep funk after losing a nice chocolate-toned, cameo XF40 that I really wanted. What a "consolation" coin! Photography cannot capture the way its swirling luster cuts through and diminishes the amber and black toning. It's much nicer when viewed in hand. It also doesn't fit my circulated commemorative set, but who cares?!
MS63 - edited Trueview. The original is way too dark and is essentially useless. It looks like a lump of coal amongst the 50+ examples in Coin Facts.

The obverse of this coin is my favorite US coin design.

In my present thinking, there are just nine more US coins I want to buy before I'm basically done buying coins, and the $2.50 is one of them. I swoon over the $50 octagonals, but that's not going to happen.
Thanks so very much for your kind words. I bought it in 2019 from a local coin shop as an MS66. I liked it so much that I sent it back to PCGS for Reconsideration, and sure enough, they agreed, and it came back with the plus!

A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I don't collect commeratives myself but these are really attractive. I like the silver half dollars alot. If I saw one at a coin show I might be a buyer.

Hope it’s not bad form to post a shameless plug for a dealer on this board, but take a look at Dave Kahn’s website, he has a gorgeous $2.50 on his NEWPs listing.

I don't mind, can't speak for everybody, but I'm basically done for the year -- maybe in a year or three, one I love will come around. Thanks though --
I am not a fan of low grades, even if they are rare, but that Pan-PAC $2.50 pocket piece is the darnest coin I’ve seen.

Great symbolism. A nod to the yellow fever saga included.
